New Cleats & Larsen
It doesn't seem like long ago at all that I was writing about new sole protectors... in fact that's only 3 months ago and the new set put on then is now worn through.
So I began to think that this speed of wear may well have something to do with the cleats getting very worn and thus letting the pedals get closer to the shoe and wear the sole more. Well, maybe.
Either way, today the Dorothy shoes got some new cleats and a new set of sole protectors. Let's see how they go.

Oaks trail - advice needed
One of my buddies (new nobmobber kiwi_phil) is organising a ride with a few mates to the Oaks trail in a few weeks.
Given my present constraints (post shoulder repair surgery, not allowed to risk falling off yet) am I asking for trouble? Or is it relatively unchallenging technically like say Perimeter + Long if I take it easy? I've been playing with things like riding down short sets of stairs, but there are no traction problems to catch you out there.

After a great Gong ride Liz and I are going for this one today - from home to Lake George and back.

Armed with new funds from cashing in my old mountain bike, I am setting out to purchase a new Hardtail Cross Country racer.
I am looking for opinions from other bikers as to which would be a good choice for my new baby. I am looking for something definately race-worthy, with maximum speed and power transfer. Not looking for an amateur ride or forgiving bike here! In the end, I am looking to tweak the build down to about 8kg in the long run.
At the moment I have it narrowed down to these two pretty things:
Look 986 XC Origin
Frame: HM Carbon, Monobloc T2T
Newby friendly Perimeter + Long (Terry Hills)
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
Park opposite/beside Terrey Hills shops, corner Booralie Rd/Yulong Ave. Or in the small carpark next to the RFS station & community centre.
This is a reprise of the ride held last weekend that I couldn't make. It will be a straightforward non-technical ride, and suitable for those wishing to introduce a friend to the sport.
The ride will be slow and social. I haven't ridden this trail previously, so we can go exploring together. The length of the out-and-back is about 22km, so probably not suitable for really young children.
Weather Plan:
If it turns out to be unbearably hot we will postpone to a 5pm start so as not to stress the junior riders.
If steady or heavy rain or slushy conditions we will defer one week

Avanti Help needed please
Hey All
I'm new to this site and the whole scene so im way over my head hear lol. I was wondering if some one could please tell me which is the better bike out of the Avanti Ridge Ryder 2009 model or the 2010 model. At first i assumed the 2010 model would be better till i read some specs. But maybe im just to much of a noob to understand it properly i left 2 links with the specs for each bike could you please leave your opinions as to which one is better and why.
