Hello all,

I have ridden through some trails at Winmalee a number of times and have found them both great fun to ride, and a bit secret as hardly anyone knows about them. For a long time I have wanted to share this ride with some more people I know. On Saturday 19th July, I will be in this part of the world, so I would like to invite you all to come along and see what it's all about.

Forks need a service

Alright boys and girls with far greater knowledge than I,
I need to get my forks serviced (reba race 29er) but i want to make sure they are in good hands and that they understand fork setup as well. Sowhere would i find such a workshop? what sort of cost should i be expecting?
Is DIY an option or should i just take it to a bike shop that knows what they are doing?
Cheers

Just a fun lap of the dam as I haven't been there for simply ages - not doing the hill down to the river (too wet), will cross the Wakehurst and go up that side - no, not into the illegal stuff!
Will be a normal speed ride

Manly Dam

Hi,

How about a new twist on the night ride??? For those of you wanting a firetrail night ride there is one posted on Wednesday, I can't generally make Wednesdays and I have never done the dam in the dark so why not???

If you haven't done the dam before... ever. Its probably worth doing this in the day first before you do it at night however if you are good at mountain biking and never done it you'll be fine!.

We will have a beer somewhere along the trail if it isn't too cold

Access Denied! A look at regulating MTB in National Parks.

Continuing MB sign valdalism

Anthony Seiver looks at why regulating mountain bike riding in national parks is necessary and ultimately in the best interests of the sport.

The regulation of mountain biking riding in national parks triggers condemnation from some riders and acceptance from others. Those who condemn the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) feel that there should be no or few controls on mountain biking in national parks because it is public space and they believe that it has no impacts. More reasonable riders accept that NPWS has to regulate mountain biking to find the balance between conservation, public safety and our right to enjoy our sport. The Royal National Park to the south of Sydney provides examples of good and bad regulation. I have closely observed mountain bike regulation in the Royal and my attitude has changed from condemning NPWS' heavy-handed imposition of mountain bike regulation in 2001 to an acceptance of its need. This article outlines the reasons for my shift in attitude by identifying why and how mountain bike riding in national parks should be regulated.

Following on from tonight's (Wed 25th) ride... ... THE SAME AGAIN!
Starting and finishing at the pub... Naturally!!

This clashes with Origin III (which doesn't worry me at all) so all the league lovers better sort their priorities out.

Killy was a blast

Well this was my first 8 hour event and I entered the pairs male (Just Cruzin) with Leopafe. Before heading up there I was thinking of getting there early Sunday morning to get in a practice lap, but the reality was we were going to do plenty of laps so why add another.

We arrived unloaded our bikes, registered and straight into the race briefing. The plan was to do two laps at a time. I headed out first with no idea what was on offer but was briefed that the track was awesome with plenty of spots to hurt yourself.

National Parks and tourism

Based on the call for comment Rob posted here http://nobmob.com/node/5487

Below is my submission

The Secretary
Task Force on Tourism and National Parks
GPO Box 7050
Sydney 2001

Dear Sir

As a keen park visitor and avid cyclist I read with interest the
recent report into park usage and am pleased a task force has been set
up to help encourage an increase in sustainable tourism use.

A major limit to my visitation, and that of many other cyclists, is
the severely restricted access of cycling on trails with in National
parks.
