Cleaning regime, what's yours?
So with all this wet weather, everybody will be cleaning and oiling more than ever.
What's your regime and any hints and tips that could help us all make a tedious job quicker and more effective?
Tools and oils used, excuses to give the wife why you're using the kitchen sink as a degreasing bowl, etc.

Adventure racing
Hi guys,
All of you are probably very good at MTB but maybe you wanna do more. Is there anyone interested by adventure racing ?
By definition “Adventure racing is a combination of two or more endurance disciplines, including orienteering (if an orienteering map is used) and/or navigation (when non-orienteering maps are used), cross-country running, mountain biking, paddling and climbing and related rope skills”. It is also a great team sport and particularly addictive for those who are looking to be beyond their maximum.
Flash flooding!
For for those riding in the wet, please take it easy especially across river or creek crossings
Before the deluge came, it was a creek about as wide as a foot length and not deep enough to get your laces wet.
5 mins of sheltering, we went back to the creek crossing and came across this...
Funny enough, the idiot featured fell in holding onto a palm leaf as support ...........................He is fine
Recent Merida 24 Hour
Great summary clip of the recent Merida 24 hr held in just outside of Brissy earlier this month.
Great little course !

How much rain has fallen at Awaba?
Well this image says it all,
This is a photo taken today of sediment runoff from Mt Faulk road onto the berm below the scorpion gap at Awaba. The road was freshly graded not long ago.
the sediment in here would be up to 500mm deep in the middle of the berm.
A lot of work had been done here in the past to make sure water coming from the road above doesn;t erode the trail, but we have never had a sediment deposit situation before.

Are there any groups doing early morning weekday rides?
I sadly have to work weekends and some weekdays, but when i can I love to go for a ride before work mainly at Manly Dam. So far iv been pretty much riding on my own and as nice as the serenity is I feel with a group id me more inclined to push my self harder. Are there any other riders or riding groups that do regular early morning rides that finnish by 8:30? I would love to start joining some groups to meet other riders and advance my riding.

Manly Dam Trig Track
Another good section from Manly Dam. While it's dead straight, the rock garden and step-ups along a shallow climb means it's an intense effort that also tests your line choice and ability to maintain momentum.
Rain friendly rides??
Where can I ride after/during rain near cremorne? lol been riding the fixie in the dry and its been raining and I wanna get out and ride. Want to ride manly dam (obviously gotta walk some parts) but I dont know how hard it'll be and how much mud I'll have to deal with. Dont mind getting all muddy I suppose. its part of the fun lol
EDIT: I'll be taking the MTB out into the rain btw not the fixie lol
MT Annan Loop
Mt Annan Loop
Reading the MT Annan Gardens website, it indicates riding for general public are during opening hours (10am - 5pm). An riding from dawn to dusk is available to friends of the gardens members.
I am an early starter, is there any option to ride the gardens early i.e 7ish without bein a friend of the garden. i.e can anyone just ride into the gardens from outside and park their car on the street ?

Manly Dam: 19th Hole to Hydro Lab
Sorry about the muttering... thought my hydation pack strap ends were somehow catching on my saddle.
Interested to hear your thoughts on the repairs to the drains on the section parallel to Southern Cross Way. I don't do a great job of disguising mine...
Regardless, it's still one of my favourite parts of the loop and it doesn't ever get old. Enjoy!

Oaks Single track Closures Sat 4th
BMORC is assisting NPWS with some pruning on the Oaks singletrack and we would like to let other riders know that sections on the singletrack will be closed off on Saturday, 4 June 2011 from 9am. The plan is to close one section at a time so riders still get to ride parts of the singletrack on the day.
See official note here.

Where to ride this weekend?
I'm keen to get out on the bike this weekend but with all this rain I'm not sure what trails drain well and will be fit to ride.
It looks like we'll get more rain tonight so I presume Manly Dam will out and the status of Red Hill isn't looking good. How's Oxford Falls or any other trails in the area?
Northbridge Pump Track Maintenance Day & BBQ Sat 28th
Hi Guys
Just a lil reminder!
Thanks to all who have confirmed that you are attending tomorrow (Sat 28th May) maintenance day.
I know a lot of you are sacrificing riding hours to help out tomorrow, but its for the greater good and future trail advocacy with the councils. Some people are coming a long way to help so we appreciate it.
We should have a good crew there tomorrow and a BBQ (supplied by AMB) is planned too at lunch time so bring a few bucks for snags.
start time is 8.30 am with Trail boss's are Dave Musgrove and Oli Kristevic, sorting tasks out

Breathing life back into a hard tail MTB frame
So I've just finished a project building-up this 8 year old Legless Lizard mountain bike frame as a single speed flip-flop fixie. The frame has been in a bike bag in the garage for years now and its great to be able to breath life back into it.
If anyone's interested in doing something similar, or just interested in what went into it, I kept a blog of the process. Check it out http://hybridbike.posterous.com/ be good to hear your thoughts on whether the flip-flop system is innovative or not? I've not seen many around, but then I don't hang-out much in the fixie world
