Harbour Bridge Closure

A friend told me that tomorrow you will have to dismount and walk your bike across the bridge due to an Amway convention. Apparently they have access to the western side of bridge. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks in advance.

Recon Pop loc dilemma ???

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Have taken up a bit of bike mechanics with varying success. Recently ordered a pop loc conversion kit to fit to my 120mm Recon shocks on a 2009 Scott Spark. Pulled the compression damper out and the one in the kit is shorter than the one originally installed in the shocks. I have been advised this is the correct kit but it is definetly a different length. Is there a spacer or modification I would need to do to the remote lock out damper?

Bit Map – topographic maps App

Anyone using the App called Bit Map for iPhone?
http://itunes.apple.com/au/app/bit-map/id3371725...
http://nixanz.com/iphone/55-bitmap

… I personally do, and it's good stuff.

You don't get the maps with the App, so you'll need to get them and install them.
I've find them, I install them… with pain, so happy to explain if someone is interested.

Hi there guys,

Just a heads up for anyone who wants a road trip to the Snowy Mountains. We have at Lake Crackenback an open day for the Starlight Foundation on 22nd Jan. We will have heli rides, trout fishing competitions, and more excitingly a kids and opens Cross Country Mountain Bike race (all proceeds go to the foundation).

The race for the juniors is 5km sprint and the opens is a 10 km sprint on single tracks and open trails in the Thredbo Valley. We have great cash prizes for the serious riders and those who like just having fun can win cash too.

Capital Punishment 50k / Dirtworks 50k Hill comparison

Hi
am planning to compete CP 50k this year. Does anyone know how the hills compare to DW 50k big hill in terms of difficulty, terrain?

Have done DW 50 a couple of times so I know what that is like.

Welcome all comments.

Heading South

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

A mate and I are heading south from Newcastle next month for a long weekend of xc riding in Canberra. Does anyone have any suggestions for places to ride on the way down and back? I rode the Fling in November so re-visiting Bundanoon/Wingello is on the list. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Is there a 3 seater bongovan?

I was thinking of getting a second hand bongo van or similar vehicle for the MTB trips and surfing etc, since the family car seems to be filling up with child seats.

Thought a courier style van would be a good option because you can carry the bikes internally.

Anyway, I usually ride with two other mates, so I'd be looking for something that seats 3. Most of the vans I see like the Hiace, Mitsubishi Express etc seem to seat two.

Short but sweet experience in Wanaka (NZ)

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Spent 3 nights in Wanaka last week (missed the Rodeo 2nd Jan, was pouring with rain) and while I really didn't think I could fit any mtbing in, I managed to wangle a couple of unexpected hours on Tues 4th.

Kids splashing about in the lake, wife and I walking along the shops about 4pm and what do I see on the door of Racers Edge? A ride notice, MTB ride tonight 6 - 8pm that night (there were other rides other nights, at least one road ride) meet out front.

club race clashes?

just checking the club race calender and noticed for the second year, that i know of , that two of the biggest race clubs (wsmtb and ccomtb) near sydney have yet again clashed there races, so you couldn't race both clubs seasons, if you were so inclined, just wondered if anyone knew the reason?

What is Mnaly Dam like??

The rainfall charts show very little rain over the past few days and with the hot weather I guess it should be pretty decent. Has anyone ridden there this week?

Towbar for Mazda 3 MPS

I recently bought a 2007 Mazda 3 MPS hatch - only to find, to my horror, that there is NO towbar kit for this car!!!

Does anyone know where i could get one made?

This is ridiculous, I never considered that it may not have a towbar kit, since there are kits for all other mazda 3's

I really, don't want to have to go down the path of roof racks or strap on racks.

I have been using a Q-spear racks for years, and it is fantastically easy to use.

Help Sad

Trainer

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I am wondering if anyone has an old or unused trainer they would be willing to sell to me or lend for a couple of months? I am recovering from a back injury and the Doc has finally agreed to let me back on a bike (first time since Oct) for 20 minutes at a time so long as I am on flat ground. I hate gyms and try finding flat ground when you live in the Hill's District!!

I would buy a new one but with the medical expenses starting to stack up I reckon the wife might finally crack if I came home with another piece of cycling equipment Shocked

Ourimbah this weekend

With the CCOMTB Round 1 coming up the weekend after next would anyone be keen to get out and have a few (4 or 5) practice laps?

Weather looks ok to me, so I am going to be heading out, ideally around 11am on Sat Morning as I am busy both early Sat Morning (Road ride) and Sunday as well.

Anyone keen?

Hi!

Alas.. my almost new baby-blue GF Paragon (size small) has been stolen from workplace's basement in North Sydney.. Had just installed new XTR bits on it, gravity dropper - yes, it's quite painful..

1 I am talking about it here in the remote hope my Paragon could be found and maybe other bikes could be made harder to steal,

Seeking secure cycle parking in Sydney CBD

Hi Folks,
Sadly I moved offices over the xmas break and can no longer park bike in my office building.

I therefore need to find somewhere to park my bike in Sydney CBD, near to Wynyard\Bond Street if possible. I heard there are car parks that take bikes for approx $1 per day. Would be happy to pay for extra security.

Any one know more info?
Cheers for any info gratefully recieived

Car numberplates for bike racks

On the way up north on Sunday a few people got pulled over by the cops as they usually do as they went past me as I was not in a hurry for a change the few I saw that got pulled up ,I put two & two together & worked out that they were getting pulled up for having the bikes on the racks without the rta supplied plate , Looks like the new laws are in full swing already .

Mogo

Anybody been down to Mogo over Christmas and can report on the condition of the Maulbrooks Loop? From what I've read, it was still a bit cluttered with horizontal trees in a few places well after the storms that blew out the Angry Doctor.

Also has anyone done the Corn Trail in the last few years? I haven't been on it since 2005 and I don't think anyone had done any work on it then since its reopening in 1988, so unless its had a touch up since, I suspect it is a now lost cause for mtb's.
