Manly Daily: Bikes study 'high priority'

Anybody seen this?

The council are thinking about putting some MTB trails in Ingleside Chase Reserve...

http://manly-daily.whereilive.com.au/news/story/...

... which is not exactly new news as we've discussed (see One more week for comments on Ingleside Chase Reserve PoM).

Odd.

Manly Dam ride on Boxing Day?

Am thinking about a training ride on Sunday morning around Manly Dam to blow the cobwebs out and burn off a bit of the lard accumulated the previous day. Smiling

Forecast for the 26th was 33 degrees last time I looked, so starting on the early side would probably be better. Pace will probably be around the 45-50 minute mark. Would like to do two, and perhaps three laps depending on how I'm feeling.

Any takers? Smiling

Capital Punishment - entries still open..

Seems folks are a bit wary about heading back to the 'bra while La Nina is still about? Or is there a bit of backlash directed at AROC after the combined efforts in Canberra and Mogo in 2010?

Sunrise smashing cyclists

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has caught some of Sunrise this morning and the opinionated view Kochie has on cyclists. He is giving us an absolute flogging on the national TV show cause he can't stand the law breakers in our community. Neither can I, but I also can't stand a person like him in his position grouping us all in the same category. It will probably not help at all but here is an email I just sent in to the team.

Dam closed tomorrow - Hazzard reduction burn at Alambie

Good afternoon Mountain Bikers,

The Rural Fire Service advises that they will be conducting a Hazard Reduction burn in the Allambie Heights section of the reserve tomorrow, Wednesday 22nd December, and as such the fire trail/bike track will be closed to the public between Wakehurst Parkway and Cootamundra Drive. While other sections of the track remain unaffected, riders will not be able to complete the full circuit without considerable detour and should plan accordingly.

Regards,
Manly Dam Rangers

Riding buddies / guides in hornsby area for Pom over visiting

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi There

Firstly apologies if this is in the wrong place, i wasn't really sure where best to place it.

I'm over from the UK until the 13th Jan and have my bike and my night riding lights with me. I'm staying in Hornsby and am really keen to get out riding so if anyone could show me some local trails i'd really appreciate it. I don't currently have access to a car so am cycling and using the train to get to ride.

I do have two sets of night riding lights with me so if anyone fancies a go a night riding i'd be happy to swap use of my spare light for your local trail knowledge.

i did awaba and mnt annan today

Both for the firts time.Cant believe my mum lives 15minutes from the awaba bike park and i never knew it was there!DOH! really nice trail, very busy this morn tho.Mt Annan was a very pleasant suprise, theyve really done a good job with the track with all the berms and little kickers through it.apparently there is a more difficult and technical 4 kms going in some time in the near future/just watch the long grass, came rather close to a common taipan there this arvo(round 5.30) so keep an eye on the 'moving sticks"!

Found - Bike Computer

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Hi All! I'm new to the forum and have only been riding for a month or two now. Glenrock is my local trail and have so far been really enjoying the great tracks it has to offer, hopefully i can spare some time to help with upcoming build projects as i would love to get involved!

To the point however, I stumbled upon a cycling computer at the top of bj's today, if its yours and you are able to identify the colour and brand i will do my best to get it back to you.

WARNING info from Police

Following the theft of my Trek EX8 from my house in Queenscliff the police have informed me that the have seen a very significant rise in expensive MTB thefts on the Northern Beaches, they think bikes are being targeted specifically. Mine was in my living room in a ground floor secure unit!
So don't get complacent with security even in your home.

Anyone who buys a suspect bike should be hung, drawn and quartered!!
