Hope Pro II 10mm through bolt conversion
Hey all,
i bought the 10mm through bolt converter for my 9mm QR proII rear hub.
does anyone know how to perform the conversion? are there instruction somewhere?
i am very mechanically minded, so i'm not paying the LBS to do it, unless i absolutely have to.
thanks
The "hawkeye's got stir crazy and needs to ride" ride
Well I'm starting to get itchy and scratchy and fidgety and ants in the pants and need to go for a ride that isn't all black stuff.
Trouble is, I'm under strict instructions from He Who Must Be Obeyed (aka the surgeon) that I'm not under any circumstances to fall off. And to be honest I don't really want to go through the last 6 months again either. So this restricts me to strictly non-technical, no-surprises (eg mid-corner sand drifts) trails. Been doing the Allambie pipeline easement and linking up with Bantry Bay fire road but want something other than the same ole out-and-back.

Manly Dam Feedback
LETTER I SENT TO WARRINGAH COUNCIL (29/09/09):
"I fully support recreational mountain bike riding. Could you please look into reducing the amount of sealed road that the Manly Dam trail follows.
Also, riding fire trail lends itself to faster speeds than narrow trail. Could you please run narrow, slower and more interesting single track along sides the fire trails in Manly Dam. Just off-set it by say 5-10m.
Maybe we don't need so many fire trails, let them grow back over once the single track is in."
LETTER BACK FROM WARRINGAH COUNCIL (15/10/09):
NoBMoB Shirts & Jerseys
Hi to all newbies like me , I have made the inquiry about obtaining one of the beaut shirt/jersey people are seen wearing at events or general rides, there needs to be at least 10 people interested if they are to be made .So lets put our hand up who would like one ?
I will start it off 1 of each please size large I think!!
Updated Highland Fling map and trail description (19/10/09)
Updated Fling map and trail description - note trail changes and slightly longer distance for the "100 km Fling" = 113 km. (19/10/09)

Tip from our recon ride on Sat: Suggest to carry a spare hanger as there are plenty of sticks and dropped branches across the Single track and fire trails due to recent winds.

Whian Whian (NightCap)
Hey Guys,
I heading up to Byron Bay for a couple of weeks and am thinking of taking the bike as well. I've been doing a bit of reserach for some local rides and I'm quite keen to do the 40km trail which is part of the Freedom ride. Has anyone done this?? Is it easy enough to find your way around if the event is not on??
Interesting concept - crap advert
Not sure if it's technically a bike as there is no saddle or chain I can see, but puts a new spin on 'hike-a-bike' none the less.
Bicycle Sizing Tips " A must read"
Found this Bicycle Fitting website on a UK Bicycle Shop Site(http://www.twenty3c.co.uk/)
http://bikefitting.com/English/Frame.aspx note:I had to use Internet Explorer as Mozilla wasn't displaying correctly.
Anyone else had this type of fitting done? I think the Specialized version is called Silicion Fitting and slightly different to their BG Fitting Process.
Centre Track - South west
The fire trail behind the information sign at the intersection of McCarrs Ck Rd and top of the Akuna Bay road used to be marked on Google Earth as part of the Centre Track running up to Terry Hills. It has recently been cleared. Which sparked my curiousity, does it actually connect to the Terry Hills end? Is it ridable? If anyone knows the answers it would be appreciated. Thanks
Calling all Fling Veterans | HT or FS? Advice needed
Calling all Full Fling veterans
I'm a Fling virgin, and trying to decide which bike to race, my XTC Hard Tail or my 575. What can I expect from the trail?
Hi
Hi All
Finally got the all clear following my back surgery and back from my holiday in the UK and I have my hard tail over here now as well.
I originally posted this: http://nobmob.com/node/9742
Wondering if anyone is going to be riding on Saturday, I am keen to get out to some of the local trails in the area.
GNR roundtrip suggestions
Some advice please... Would like to plan a ride from Wisemans Ferry to Mogo Creek Rd Junction along the GNR.
(Dont know the area very well)
Is it feasable to drive 2 vehicles to Mogo Creek Rd/GNR junction (say to Mogo camp & picnic area) leave one vehicle there and drive back to Wisemans Ferry & leave the other vehicle there.
This way we would only ride one way.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks Graham
Consistency
Forgive me, but Pratiwi & I went for a little scum ride yesterday. Yes, yes... but she made me enter the Gong ride and wanted to do some 'practice'.
Anyhow, interestingly she thought we'd gone much faster yesterday then a previous ride there (about 6 weeks ago). Digging up the numbers to check...
From Terrey Hills shops to the end of West Head Road:
Previously: 1h07m27s
Yesterday: 1h07m05s (22 seconds faster)
From end of West Head Road to Akuna Bay:
Previously: 56m22s
Yesterday: 55m51s (31 seconds faster)
From Akuna Bay to Terrey Hills shops:
Previously: 47m33s
Which Dually??
I'm looking to upgrade my bike to a Scott spark 50 or the trance X3 or X2 has any body got any suggestions. I am looking to do longer rides than the 1 or 2 laps of everywhere I go riding , instead of trying to better my bike I will look into upgrading instead
Manly Daily 17/10/09 - Check out Pages 32/33
http://digitaledition.manlydaily.com.au/
Anyone have a link to the online version? The above holds a copy of what appeared in print. There was a 2 page for/against MTB an on the whole think it's positive for riders.
The gem in this is:
But NPWS executive director of park management Bob Conroy agrees that mountain bike riders do have a place in national parks and has made it clear he does not want to lock them out.
He is not inherently opposed to legally and properly constructed single tracks...
Useless....
I knocked out a couple of dam laps this afternoon and came across some idiots on moto's stopped about half way up heart break hill with a busted chain and obviously no tools apart from themselves. Rather than confront them and potentially knuckle on with the boneheads I thought do the "proper" thing and call the cops. So about half a K down the track I sat down and called Frenches forest police station and explained where I was, what I was doing and the prime situation these idiots were in that would aid in their apprehension.

Graphic Design?
This is so funny I had to watch it twice... I missed the end first time 'cos I was crying and laughing too much to hear:
Warning: it has a few naughty words
Yes, it's about graphic design, but any professional can probably relate.
Full fling entry up for grabs as I can no longer take part :(
Hi, I just wanted to see if there was anyone out there who is interested in taking my full fling entry for the 8 November?
I can no longer ride in the event as my Mum has decided to come over for a holiday and arrives on the 6/11... looks like I'll be sight seeing on Sunday instead
If you are interested in taking my entry let me know and we can sort out the details, post a note here or email me on [email protected]

The Central Coast track DB : calling all Central Coast Garmin owners!
I am currently in the process of combining every central coast GPS track that I can find into one large GPX file. (But keeping the tracks seperated). I do this for several reasons : a nice easy reference to open and peruse in Mapsource, and a useful way of editing together rides for here on the coast. Perhaps there's an easier way to do this but I find setting them up this way very useful for my local trip planning and ride creation. If ANYONE has extra tracks that could be added into this collection can you please post them up or send them to me for inclusion.
