Anyone interested in a bike swap?
Hello,
I have a dual suspension Santa Cruz Blur XC racer, and I am looking at swapping for an equivilant value (Around 4-5k-ish) HARDTAIL XC.
Reasons for wanting to swap, is I am starting to do more enduro events and adventure racing, and I want something with better power transfer, and it is also one less thing to worry about on a long race.
The bike is quite new, probably less than 200km's on it.
Ourimbah conditions
Anyone have any thoughts on what conditions are likely to be on the xc track at Ourimbah on Saturday (assuming it doesn't rain too much today/overnight)?
Gosford's had rain as follows (maybe a bit less at Ourimbah as further inland?):
Sat 03/10/2009 13.8
Sun 04/10/2009 15.0
Mon 05/10/2009 4.0
Tue 06/10/2009 8.6
Wed 07/10/2009 7.0
Thu 08/10/2009 1.6
Fri 09/10/2009 0.4

Seinfeld's bike has no chain
I rather like to watch old Seinfeld episodes once in a while and noticed yesterday in a shot where he was standing close to the bike (the one hanging in his hall) that it actually didn't have a chain on! I think this episode was titled 'The Seven' (or maybe the one before?) and for some reason looked at the timer and it was around 6m30s into the episode.
If you search around you'll find various stories about Seinfeld's bikes, but I don't think anyone noticed this before
$50 Scott 24 Solo entry for sale
No need to ride for the whole 24 hours of course. With this entry you can just turn up and ride when ever you want over the corse of the event. It's such a great event to be a part of too.
Offered: Lift to Stomlo leaving Friday Lunch from LNS
I will be leaving for the Scott Friday lunchtime and have room in the car for anyone needing a ride or wanting to share at similar time/location.
Actually... if you don't have too much gear and only 1 bike each I could even take a couple of riders. It's always good for some company and a spare driver on the way home (which will probably be on Sunday arvo of course).
Sorry for the late notice, but PM me if interested.

Friends Of Warringah Meet To Discuss MTB Single Trail
Manly Daily Wednesday Oct 7,2009
Page 6: Search for middle ground on bike use.
A proposal to allow mountain bike riders to use single trails in national parks will be one of the several topics discussed at the next meeting of the friends of warringah tonight at the North Curl Curl SLSC........
The entire story can be found here http://digitaledition.manlydaily.com.au/
There are some interesting quotes from Richard Michell (spokesperson for Friends Of Warringah) in regards to "middle ground".

The 20/20 Contour HD has arrived & my Sony GPS Camera thingy also. Yippee.

Gentlemen;
The CRC group buy has arrived. Please check your email / PM's for a link to the googlesheet with price, bank and pickup details. Contact me on 0408-123680 for any queries.
Pickup is from Lindfield, or someone could take the non-urgent stuff to the Scott 24 hr - to distribute on the weekend.
John (Carlgroover): Please note that CRC notified me that the third Geax 29'er tyre was out of stock...Supagav has 2 in his order...please contact him as he may be able to share the loot. You guys cleared out the 29'er stock in Europe...

Rize RZ 120 or 140
Howdy
As one does I am thinking about N + 1.
The Rize has caught my eye - since the Rush has been my steed of choice for the last few years.
Seems to get generally good reviews, but well reviews is reviews...
Anybody got one of these or tested one for more than around the block and can comment?
cheers
Getting bikes to NZ
My hubbie and I are heading to the north island for the x-mas holidays and I was hoping for some advise as to the best way to get our bikes there. Would it be easier to lug them to the airport or has anyone shipped their bike over there for pick up. Also, does anyone know if there is a place to rent a bike carrier or should I just buy one? Thanks.
Regards,
Maria
First tentative pootle around the neighbourhood
As some of you may know, I had a nasty dislocation back in March that required a shoulder reconstruction in May. Not as nasty as CB's crash, but not trivial either.
Today, in between rainshowers, I took the Jekyll out for a gentle ride around the neighbourhood to stretch the legs and check out the upgrades I put on the bike over winter:
* 2009 130mm Lefty PBR fork
* Manitou Swinger 3-way shock
* Bontrager tubeless conversion kit
* Ignitor 26"x2.35" tubeless both ends
* New middle ring, chain and cassette
* New DMR Wing Bars 31.8mm x 640mm wide
* 100mm stem to suit
rides near Picton / Tahmoor / Razorback or close by?
Hi all
I just moved out to Picton and was keen to find some local riders and trails in the area or within 30mins drive.
Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks
Paul.
OT: Wet Dream video trailer
This reminds me of certain Free Ride MTB movies....
This is the trailer for the full video, "Wet Dream Result," a film of vast importance to all humanity, and a tribute to those who push the limits so hard that the limits are like, "Ow! Stop pushing me!"
Enjoy!
Mixing up !!
Just wondering if I can change my cable brakes to Hydro do I need to stay with the same brand of stuff or can I mix it up
I am running shimano atm can I put sram shifters on the bike with say hayes brakes and keep the shimano discs . I'm running the standard combo
shifter brake combo atm. If all goes well will purchase the Hayes brakes off a fellow mobber if they are still available juust need to find a set of shifters for a 8 speed see how things pan out
Hydro discs with drop bars?
In case anyone doesn't know, Travis Brown rode a drop bar MTB at this years Leadville (see http://www.velonews.com/article/96645). However, Travis was stuck with cable discs as he wasn't as inventive as the guy who came up with this:
In case you can't quite make it out, the cables from the drop levers are fixed to pull the hyrdo levers fixed on the top of the bars (where cross-top brakes sit on my crosser).
please help us...for a great cause...
Hi All,
we are at it again....another adventure race to raise funds for Charity.
In March this year, we were the top fundraisers, raising over $1,000 for charity and this time were going to go better.
Mid November we head off on another adventure, similar to the amazing race, which has a six hour time limit and approximately 15 checkpoints, covering sydney CBD and surrounding suburbs.
Each time we generaly place in the top quarter of the field (out of over 300 teams) and cover over 20km in under 3 hours.
Switching to clip in's - need advice
