Warning: Multiple car break-in's today at Yellomundee
Went to ride at Yellomundee today ( tuesday) at about 3pm. My first time there. Parked at the suggested parking area. Several cars were parked there with other riders coming and going (about 6 cars) .
After returning to the cars at 16h15, we found 2 cars broken into and one attempted. Rocks had been thrown through the windows of a Subaru and a Holden and all valuables and bags inside were stolen. The holden also had the door handle broken, the door frame bent by a rock and the windscreen smashed.

just put the order on for a twenty20 ContourHD and two of the older VHoldr's

setup times will be a bit longer, sorry.
Tyre Pressure
Hey,
being only new to MTB and doing the usual Dam, falls etc trails I generally run my tyres at 40psi, talking to a bloke on the weekend said that I should be running them at max 25-30psi ? seems to low but whats the G.O?
Rockshox Pike Issues
Having some issues with my rockshox pike 454 forks.
Just got back from the angry doctor - going down the downhill section at the 70k mark (after that enormous hill) I lost all travel in my fork.
All I get now is a loud clunk if I hit anything. There is no compression what so ever.
I am not into bike mechanicals at all - just love riding. Anybody got any ideas of what this could be ? Blown seAls ? Fork requires rebuild or fork is completely stuffed.
Will take it to LBS but just wanted a heads up before the guy at the store gives me alot of bad news.
old farts scenic tour of The Oaks
well, if we get up and manage Andersons this weekend 21st
we'll either be
in a heap moaning or
all fired up for The Oaks some time real soon now
so badger me, tourist mode, no record times setting, cameras optional/mandatory (?)
crap, i was going to do two things and the other one has already fallen out on the floor and i can't find it. dang ;-(
Whistler mountain bike park
I've been riding here now every day for five days, four of them on the well known dh trails and one on an excellent xc trail. I'm now stuffed and am having a rest.
My first two days were spent with Paul J and Chica. I've now seen a very different side to Chica. The side that gets high up on a berm and who gets a couple of metres air off a kicker to easily clear a double.
As for me, my rate of skill improvement is high. I'm riding quicker and with more confidence than before and taking on trail features I'd ordinarily avoid.
Another bonkers epic
Just when you think these things can't get any more crazy...

Distance: About 200 miles. Total vertical? Just shy of 40,000 feet. Find a spandex-clad Europhile if you need to know how many K that is.
OK, I'll translate from backwards-thinking yank speak: 320km and 12,000m vertical. You have 6 days to complete that. The last day is 75km and 3000m vertical climbing.
Manly Dam Works Feedback
Do you ride regularly at Manly Dam? How have the recent works affected your enjoyment of riding there? Do you have suggestions for improvements or other ideas?
It has been brought to my attention that anyone wishing to give feedback to Warringah Council on their recent works at Manly Dam can do so by writing to their general manager, Rik Hart, at the following email address: [email protected]
As this is a general email address I assume a subject of something like, "FAO Rik Hart re: Manly Dam Works" is required.
I would encourage anyone to report back to the council with their views on what has been happening at the Dam. It's very important we let the council know how their plans and works are received. If we don't let the powers that be know our views there will be no-one to blame but ourselves if things do not go quiet as riders would like in the future.
Please remember to be courteous and constructive and if you see any problems or issues perhaps suggest how they might be remedied.
In the interests of keeping a log of various feedback feel free to CC [email protected] with anything you send in.
Manly Dam records for single speed, fixed gear or unicycle?
Hi guys,
I tried searching but couldn't come up with anything. Anyone have any records or good times for doing a loop at Manly Dam either on a single speed, fixed gear or unicycle? I'm trying to compare my times with others. I just broke my personal best the other day and did it on a 26" unicycle in 54 minutes and 4 dismounts. My goal is to do it under 50 minutes with 1 or 0 falls. Let me know if you ride a unicycle, single speed or fixed bike so I have something to compare to. Also, just curious to what the record is for the fastest time on any bike if anyone knows?

Urgent Angry Doctor advice needed.
I've been renewing parts of my drivetrain this week and I haven't been able to find a granny ring for an XTR crank any where in Sydney.
The question is, do I go pro and run just the two rings, our are the hills going to be that bad that I put an old Race Face triple crank on that’s seen better days.
Any advice before 8pm today would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Chris
Copenhagen city bike share competition
Check this out:
Copenhagen is a unique, world-class cycling city and this fact should be reflected in the city’s bike share system. Our city is the best example of how the bicycle can become the preferred form of transport in a modern city. An attractive and modern bike share system can contribute to strengthening Copenhagen’s bicycle culture. Therefore The City of Copenhagen is pleased to launch an open design competition in order to determine how a bike share system v. 3.0 would look and work in the city in the future.

Royal National Park Trail Maintenance Day - Saturday 19th September
Just an update on the ongoing trail maintenance being undertaken in the Royal National Park at the moment.
A second day is now confirmed for 9am Saturday 19th September and if anyone wishes to participate, here is the link to the original post that has all the details. http://nobmob.com/node/10019
I couldn't make it to the first one, due to work commitments, but I have seen the improvements on recent rides and there has been some good work carried out to improve drainage in a few areas.
It looks like drainage is going to be the main focus on the 19th.

More pump goodness
Check this out:
From: http://damianbreach.com/2009/?p=498
Someone should make some fibreglass berms and humps and stuff that you can lay out in a parking lot and bolt together. Like some kind of pump track equivalent of Scalextric.
Even on dirt areas you could lay that stuff down and sprinkle with dirt to stop having to re-form the track all the time!
Anyone here have the necessary skilz for that?
BoM Sydney Radar update
I noticed just now the Bureau of Meteorology has updated the Sydney rain radar to a high resolution doppler radar:
http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDR714.loop.shtml...
What does this mean for us all? Not much I suppose, but it now has a 64km loop with more detail on local areas, and something that tells you which way the wind is blowing. Handy if you're stuck in an office as I am, and want to know...
Rob, how does this affect the Nobmob weather page?: http://nobmob.com/weather

Frank's trail
imagine the bureaucratic brickwall you'd be up against trying to get this approved over here.
