Local authorities to "Stamp out the cyclist problem".
There has to be a good reason for this incident. I'm sure we don't know the full story. Outrageous that solution of local authorities is to install 61 no cycling signs opposed to investing in cycle infrastructure.

With the A$ so good at the moment looking at placing an order on Wiggle - my order should qualify for free shipping but I'm happy to add bits for those that want as long as total order stays under $1000. 6pm tomorrow is cut off, PM if interested.
New bike 2

Thought this would be the easiest way to move it on
You might grab a bargin!
Wheelset
I'm looking for some advice on Wheelsets. I have a Specialized Stump Jumper and have had the bike for around 2 years. I need new wheels and am looking for something that will light enough to do Dirtworks in around 5 hours (assuming I am fit enough) but also be robust enough to handle Red Hill. As the A$ is strong at the moment I thought it would be opportune to get a wheelset online. Any recommendations / advice would be appreciated.

Ignoring the track closed signs that will be in place risks up to a $500 fine & potentially lives due to the high danger from the fire & falling trees.
Black snake performance enhancer
Just about ran over a large (like, python size !!) red belly black snake at the top of the Dam last sunday overlooking the golf course. As it reared up ready to wrap around my wheel, leap off and bite my face off, an amazing burst of energy drove my bike forward.
I was buzzing for minutes. Watch for them snakes this weekend !!!
Sharkies - have you been bitten?
Has anyone has tried 'Sharkies Organic Energy Sports Chews' (www.sharkies-chews.com)?
I got sent a bit of blurb about it a while back (from my road club) and thought it was just another 'new' product trying to replace good old jelly babies or snakes, but they have now popped up in other sports/endurance newsletters I subscribe to.
Might be keen to order a box or two, just wondering how easy they are to consume while riding i.e. easy to chew and don't get stuck in your teeth and if they live up to all the hype...
anyone been mountain biking in Bali?
i'm in WA at the moment and the flights to Bali are extremely cheap $350 return (cost me more to fly SYD to PER return) so am thinking i may take a quick trip over there.
Has anyone been mountain biking in Bali? what was it like?
any recommendations/comments would be appreciated.
thanks guys
Bottle vs Camelback?
What do you think about bottle vs camelbacks/packs?
I'm thinking about dumping my camelback in favour of water bottle and cage. But answer me these question three: do they drop out too easily and leave you with no water for 30 km's? Or are they a great way to shed some grams?
It seems the pros go for bottles.
What to look for in a bike?
Hello, i'am in the market for a new trail bike but am unsure what makes a bike better then another (geomtry wise). When i buy a bike what must i look for besides components, how must i compare one bike to another bike and be able to say this is better eg how will i no that this frame will turn in better then this one and this one is more trail bike then freeride?. And is it possible to do these checks in the shop before i actually purchase it.

Where to buy Assos knicks/shorts?
Need some new knicks /shorts and prefer quality fit with a good chamois etc.
I heard good things about Assos knicks/shorts (but pricey...).
Please suggest a good place to buy...ideally cheaper, or locally (for proper fit) rather than from their online store.
Also - which of their shorts/knicks are best suited for MTB?
Thx, Hans
Facebook Group

Cheers.

Wet weather training?
With the Fling just around the corner and rain predicted for this weekend means my regular training rides oaks/andos, hill fest etc will most likely be washed out.
So I was wondering: what does everyone else do to train when when the trails are too wet to ride?
Xmas present idea for the kids
i was down at the local book store the other day looking for some books for my nieces and nephew
and came across the following book, TooCool Rules - Sonic Mountain Bike. So for those that have young kids it might be a good stocking filler for Christmas.
Merida matts TFS XC 100
Hello everyone, i want to buy a new bike but am no sure what to buy. The Matts TFS XC 100-D has been suggested but am not sure if its spec'ed appropriately. I'am looking for a trail bike (mainly firetrails, technical and some xc) and i want to pay around the $1000.00 mark i'am probably around the low intermediate mark just for reference. The main thing iam looking for is a good hardtail trail bike that wont fall apart after 6 months of intermediate trail riding.
Thank you very much everyone.
Freedom Riders The Movie
Can anyone here relate?
Freedom Riders, a core group of riders who evolved to creating a precedent setting relationship with the Forest Service and in doing so created the first freeride specific trails on public lands in the lower 48.
Freedom Riders a look at the evolution of the sport, the progression of trail users, and an inside story of a group of riders that would never see their passion die.
XT discs with Avid Elixirs?
I recently purchased a set of Elixirs with 160mm rotors which I love but my new bike has Shimano XT M775 with 180mm rotors. I was thinking of taking the new calipers off and throwing my Elixirs on with the bigger rotors and just wondering if I should be looking at new discs as well? I presumed all discs were pretty much the same but I'm not sure if thats the case.
The other question that comes to mind after all of this is: Am I crazy to take off the XT calipers in the first place? are reading a few reviews on them they sound pretty dam good too!
Frame protection (wrapping my new baby in cotton wool)
OK so the new bike is on it's way and all I can do now is wait and shop for accessories I know it's going to get scratched eventually but for the time being I would like to try keep it looking new...
Just curious what everyone thinks are necessary items?
I have a rear mud guard at the moment which comes in useful for those wet rides, and was thinking about investing in either a front mud guard or down tube guard to keep the crap off my rear shock and derailleur.
Who needs a shuttle with this?
Saw this in a magazine, they sell for US$3500, no license in most US states, and fully customisable in 250 colours.
Does the Fling have a category for this ???
