Stromlo 24 Hour?

Word on the street is entries for the CORC 24h will go live this weekend:

http://www.corc.asn.au/24hr/

It's on October 11/12... Me thinks interested parties should begin to form their teams.

Can we count on Groover & Damien for solo entries? Nutters! Sticking out tongue

Very unhappy.
After a few days delay because another item went out of stock, it seems the order has been held up further.
After numerous emails as to why my order kept showing 'processing', I received an email tonight 'The FSA FR-200 STEM 90mm (37001) that you ordered is not available. Would you like to amend the order or simply cancel the item from the order to enable us to ship the rest of the parts?'
This is 1 week after I placed the order and I need the drivetrain gear for Canberra.
I have replied with a 'very displeased' email, especially when they take the money beforehand.

Quick Spin Sat?

Hmmmm... I was going to take a leisurely ride with the GF this morning, but she's not feeling so good and doesn't feel up for it.

Sooooo... am free for a spin later in the day. Will go do one of the usual XC loops (Cascades, Terrey Hills, etc) on my own, unless there's any takers for a bit of company, in which case open to suggestion. Am thinking midday-ish start for 2-3 hours.

Cheers! Smiling

Tubeless ??

I broke the valve of my rear wheel so I went and got a tubeless valve (dear those small things!). But when I was about to replace the broken one, I was horrified to discover that my Trance X1 with TUBELESS tires has tubes inside..... what is going on there ? Is that something normal Giant does to all new bikes ?

Now I can't even pump it up tubeless, the seal doesn't seem tight enough around the rim. What should I do ? Sad

Someone just posted this on MTB-OZ, thought it would be of interest here:

A guy I know from the aerial photography forum has been experimenting with aerial video using his radio controlled helicopter. His stuff is awesome, and includes chasing someone down a ski slope, while operating the controls while he skied down behnd!

But I reckon the real appeal of his work is the brilliant editing and juxta positioning of the different elements,.

Giant Trance Advanced (Carbon) 2007 - On Sale!!!

Hi Guys,

Looking at selling my Giant Trance Advanced 2007 which was purchased in November last year. The bike is a small and is in great condition and was just serviced prior to Dirtworks and they replaced the cahin, casette, and granny and middle chainring as well as the breakpads, so it is all ship shape.

Reason for selling: Looking to get a xc dually rather than a trail bike as keen to drop a few kilos (Anthem, Spark, etc). Would consider a swap for the right bike.

Retail price was $7,200 ...... what offers??

I've just sent the following in response to the SCA regulation. It's pretty generic so should work for all. If you'd like to help please copy/paste this (add your postal address to the top and name to the bottom of course) and email to [email protected]

May 27 2008

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to you with comments on the document titled "Public consultation draft - Sydney Water Catchment Management Regulation 2008". The version I write on was displayed on your website at the following address:

Not sure how I came across this, it may have come from Rob, so apologies if its a repeat.

Great quotes, share some of your best quotes from your partner.....

It my girlfriends birthday in a couple of weeks and i asked her what would she like for her B'day, then i suggested maybe a sparkly ring or something.
This was her reply "hehe you are funny I don t think that we have the money for this kind of stuff Smiling I would prefer have a carbon handle bar for my pearl:-)" (Pearl is her bike) I think she is a keeper!!!

Update: The submission I just sent in has been posted here. Hopefully it's generic enough that anyone could use it. Please, if you can spare 2 minutes copy paste that and email it off.

Update: I was just asked about the area we're talking about here. There's a PDF map linked on the Special Areas Brochure - What you can and can't do page.

Update: If you haven't submitted anything yet, then do not fear. According to MTBA: Trail Access a one week extension (to June 6) has been negotiated.

The SCA control a lot of land with great trails we are no allowed on right now. If you can write and put forward the view that cycling should be authorised on land under their management it would be greatly appreciated by the MTB community I'm sure.

Public consultation draft of the Sydney Water Catchment Management Regulation 2008 (493.8 kb PDF File)

I got this only today from Martin G, he said:

The new draft, which is way harsher than the already harsh one in force now has a download at the bottom. Also their Regulatory Impact Statement.

The deadline for responses is this Friday, so if NoBMoB people want to get a response in they'll need to be prompt. A few words asking nicely will help, better to paste stuff from the executive summary. The Minister for Water and the Minister for the Environment should be cc'd too.

The 'executive summary' he mentions is from a draft submission he sent, you can read that below.

That's possible (NoBMoB Bus)

In conjunction with the idea Supagav and I were discussing about the NoBMoB bus, how good would that be! $200 each and it's possible.

PS: i am not affilated with Jenson in anyway, but that goes to show cheap parts, super fast service.

Training Program

Hi,
I am looking at entering a 50km race in sept. I was wondering if anyone has a training program that I could look at? Any advice on number of rides per week needed, how many k's should be done etc. before the race to post a descent time? Looking at a combination of road and off road training.
Any advice is appreciated.

Innova MTB Tube - 10 Pack - 26 x 1.0/1.25 Presta

Hi there,

I ordered the wrong tubes yesterday and they have already been shipped so don't really want to pay postage to send them back and then have the correct size sent to me.

The item is exactly as listed here: http://torpedo7.com.au/products/INTUBNNMT

If I could get $25 for them that would be great.

Pickup Sydney CBD would be ideal otherwise we can talk about posting.

e-mail: [email protected]

Thanks.

Want to order ayups but cannot decide on beams

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hello,

I cannot decide which to buy yet. I keep hearing different ideas about which beams are better for our use.

I cannot see us doing any crazy night riding, mainly fire trail and possibly some single track. Any users of ayups seen both beams of the current range of lights in the flash care to offer some guidance?

I have seen the beam shots on the website but I would like to know how people are going out there in the real world with the ayups. Also just curious how hard it is to get the beam changed afterwards? is it as simple as a lens change? or the actual light itself?

Trails around the Gold Coast

The missus is attending a 5 day training course on the Gold Coast in September, so I'm planning to utilise "Kids Club" for a couple of days and explore the trails around the Gold Coast and the Hinterland.

Does anybody have any details of the cross country trails around that area - I have a car so further afield is OK although I do have to pick the kids up at some stage.

I've checked out the Gold Coast MTB site and there wasn't a great deal of info there.
