CRC Differing Prices

I have noticed something very strange with the CRC website prices. They seem to differ depending on what PC you are browsing the site from. For example, the prices are higher when I order something at home than when I am at work.

Also Lozza is checking on his PC at work (mascot) right now and they are higher than what I see here at my work PC (circular quay).

What gives!? Sad
The difference is quite significant too. When he opens the wishlist I sent through to him it comes in at 293 GBP when I see it as 250 GBP!

Anyone experienced the same thing?

Lost sleeping bag at the Carotel

I've just realised I left my prize sleeping bag at the Carotel in Canberra on Sunday morning.
I used it as a pillow on the bottom bed in the far corner.
If anyone found it, please let me know.
It is a Fairydown in a blue Fairydown stuff sack.
I will be forever indebted to anyone who can help me get this back.
I can't sleep as I've just realised.

DIY - Fork Repairs

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I think I'm bored by all this rain because I just rescued an old pair of forks a mate was chucking and I'm going try and fix them.

They are 2003 Rockshox SID Team (dual air, climb-it control, etc) with a massive 63mm-80mm of travel - I think to change travel from 63mm to 80mm you need to fiddle with the inner workings and therefore a shop service - so these are 63mm.

The first thing I want to do is renew the upper legs. The upper legs measure 130mm but as only 63mm is used, the top 67mm is in poor condition (its like the metallic coating on the legs are peeling).

Wet Weather - Please Avoid Manly Dam

We've not heard anything from the rangers, but given this week has been one of the wettest all year (see weather and look at the 6-ish month graph) think it would be wise to avoid Manly Dam at the moment.

Sorry folks, it's easy for those of us heading down South to say, but really think you're going to find a boggy mud fest at Manly if you ride there.

The Ineffectivness of Signage

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

"A six-year-old boy has died after a collision between a school bus and a loaded coal train at a level crossing"

"Queensland Premier Anna Bligh told State Parliament today there was thick fog in the area at the time of the accident and visibility had been reduced to just 50 metres."

"There were no boom gates at the crossing but there was a rail crossing sign and a give-way sign."

"We will be leaving no stone unturned in investigating what has happened," Mr Hopper said."

Here is a great ride in the Snowy's 09...

The high country will become a Mountain biking mecca as hundreds of riders descend on the Snowies for the inaugural Alps Epic in March 2009. The staged mountain bike race will be held over 5 days including 8 stages. Each day will start in a new town within the region. The course will include some of the countries best mountain bike trails. The tracks will be a combination of new and existing single track and fire trails in the Kosciuszko National Park and surrounding areas. The area is famous for its mountains, rivers, lakes and stunning scenery.

A good reason to wear a helmet..

..and maybe to avoid the road!

It could be a bit graphic for some but better to know the risks than stick the head in the sand and pretend "it won't happen to me".

Oaks + Andos - Up... up... up training ride

Hey guys, since Angry Doctor will be an elevation madness event, I'm thinking in putting some uphill Kays and it seems that Oaks + Andos is a good take (longish and good elevation). What about 14th of June??? Any takers???

Cheers,

Leo.

Rock Shox Revelation vs Fox Talas

OK, lets open this worm can..

The revelation has been recommended to me by quite a few people and I prefer the plushness of a coil(?) over air. I know they need a little bit more setting up, but I don't mind that. The might be a bit heavier but not much, and are 10m shorter on max. travel. They might be all I need though and I prefer the price. I would be thinking of putting them on a 2008 Yeti 575.

Has anyone got a set here that can comment?

Cheers,
Dylan
