It's On
Ourimbah Holiday Special
North End of Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. There's a large-ish parking area here, just off the main sealed road. There is also a smaller parking area a little further (400m or so from the road) where the trail splits - this second area is the usual meeting point. If you end up driving up a steep hill you've gone too far.
To celebrate 1 week to go before the kids go back to school (or before those lousy teachers go on strike) just a couple of cruisy laps in the morning to test out Colt's new steed.... providing it hasn't been nicked again!
Very relaxed pace.
The Oaks noob ride
Glenbrook station carpark.
Planning on taking a work colleague up to do The Oaks ride. This will be very easy paced and suitable for less experienced or less fit riders who are wanting to "do the oaks". All are welcome of course.
We catch the train from Glenbrook (8:23) up to Woodford (8:54)and ride back to the carpark. Train ticket is required so bring a few $$$.
It's approx 30Km of mostly fire trail with an excellent single trail at the end and of course a very very testing hill riding out back to the car park.
Bring plently of water, sunscreen, spares and food to get through.
West Head Hill Fest
Park opposite/beside Terrey Hills shops, corner Booralie Rd/Yulong Ave. Or in the small carpark next to the RFS station & community centre.
As discussed before, I can't go for an epic or anything too early on Sat so propose a few hills for some fun...
Meet at Terrey Hills shops then ride Centre (yes, backwards), Waratah, Towlers Bay, Elvina, up (yes, backwards) Duck Hole and back to shops.
I can't be bothered to work it out, but should be under 40 clicks and take 3 hours or so. These are some nice hills (esp. Towlers and Elvina) so be prepared. Sadly there is some black stuff to join them up... but... meh!
WWS #1 Lithgow
From Lithgow head on the Western Highway toward Bathurst. After 10-11Km you will head uphill and see thick pine forest to the right. It's dual carriageway here, and there's a right turn across the other lane into Forest Ridge Drive (signposted and a sealed road). About 50m on the left there's a turning where you can park in the shade. There's also an old concrete section of the highway just past there with masses of parking.
Hopefully entries will be up ASAP
Menai - Early Explore
By the sports field on Old Illawarra Road, Barden Ridge.
This will be a quickish exploration ride I am trying to figure out these trails and the best way to do that is to ride them reguarly.
Route wise it will probably be all over the place at a medium to quickish pace you should expect to ride some small to medium drops and roll offs on the route there are also plenty of tricky little rocky climbs and decents all over the place a bit of rough fire trail thrown in and some nice flowing single track.
This will be a quick ride no longer than an hour and a half basically I am just going to have an explore to see what I can find.
Menai - Mid Week Night Ride
By the sports field on Old Illawarra Road, Barden Ridge.
This is a social medium paced technical single track XC style night ride on some of Sydney’s best trails.
A Dam Fine Saturday Afternoon.
King Street (near corner with Arana Street), Manly Vale. You know - outside Manly Hydraulics Lab.
I reckon it'll be just lovely to pedal around Manly Dam after I've been at work supplying the good people of the western suburbs with their bicycle needs, and I've not been here in ages. It's late so we beat the heat, yet still daylight. This is no night ride.
It'll be just two laps of the regular course then everyone can go home and be available for their preferred Saturday night activities.
Everyone's welcome. Newbies, oldies, fast, slow, girls, guys. Everyone.
after "work" Ourimbah ride
North End of Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. There's a large-ish parking area here, just off the main sealed road. There is also a smaller parking area a little further (400m or so from the road) where the trail splits - this second area is the usual meeting point. I'm in Newcastle early for work!!! and on the way home will stop at one of our favourite XC loop!!
Ourimbah XC Training

Well the calendar is pretty packed so I thought I'd get this one in early.
Ourimbah is always fun so I was thinking we could do 3-4 laps at a semi-training pace.
I'm never too serious about my training so there will be stops but we'll try to keep them less frequent than the social rides.
It maybe a good warm up for the ones doing the Sydney 24hr
Another Dam Night Ride!
King Street (near corner with Arana Street), Manly Vale. You know - outside Manly Hydraulics Lab.
Come ready for two laps of Manly Dam, or we can on the night discuss doing the legal part of Bantry Bay then back via the old folks home.
Your know the drill....Bring a beer or two for the after ride banter.
