Womerah Range Training Ride

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

As discussed in the DW thread, reckon it would be a good idea to go get some training in on these hills. Especially the big climbes on the Womerah Range.

Anyone interested? Proposed dates? How about last two weekends in March? How about aiming for March 22/23 Oops... Easter, how about March 15/16?

I would propose to meet at the West (turn left, not right bottom of the hill) ferry and leave cars there, riding the 5Km or so to bottom of the climb so as to be warm for that. Then ride the Womerah Range trail.

Wet patches on my tyres

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi guys!

This might be another one of those stupid questions, so please forgive me...

I haven't been riding much in the last few weeks and when I was looking at my bike yesterday I noticed that the rear tyre has lost a lot of air and that both (tubeless) tyres (Maxxis Crossmark) have little black spots where the sealing stuff seems to come through?

Is that because the tyres have lots of little tiny wholes and now they are leaking air?

And most importantly: do I have to throw out BOTH tyres? Their tread is still really good and I don't want to chuck them!! Sad

Well my first real post and i dont live anywhere near you Northern Beaches Mob. I do most of my riding around the royal national park and Appin. I was just wondering if any of you have heard of this ride through the royal national park.

18 kms round trip from Audley and back. A few hills but nothing to advanced.

Cascades - Four Gates

I like this idea of "the Four Gates"... it gives some structure to the Cascades area, as you can get a little 'lost' just going up and down! I started at Acron oval, then down Cascades and up to Davidson, Bare Creek and Heath Track to Wyatt St, back down and then up Quarry, down and along Lower Cambourne to Cascade Track and up to Acron. I haven't ridden to Davidson before... there's lots of bitumen on the steep sections, good for grip and preventing erosion but a little strange really. Splits are in Sound Bite, but total time includes stop at Wyatt St to stretch.. dodgy back!

Are any of the "beginner newbies" interested going back to Terrey Hills this Sat morning 1/3?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

After quite enjoying my maiden nobmob ride on Sunday I was hoping that perhaps a few of us "beginners" could go back this saturday morning for a slightly shorter ride. Maybe start at the track entrance at Japanese School and just go to the first look out (not sure what its called) and back.
I really want to try and get on my bike more reguarly and would love to have some companions to ride with that are at similar level to me. (That being:COMPLETE BEGINNER - MOST OF THE HILLS AT TERREY HILLS WERE TOO DIFFICULT FOR ME TO CLIMB AND IM SORE TODAY)

Warning

Hi All

A mate of mine has just rushed out and bought a Specialized Enduro Expert, beautiful bike with a price tag to match.

Anyway we went for a first ride on Sunday and did a Oxford Falls Red Hill epic. Biggest drop we did would have been 4 foot to slight tranny, the usual RH rock gardens, etc.

Anyway 3/4 of the way through the ride his rear shock starts making a horrible knocking sound and has lost 1 cm of travel (along the shaft). Not an air leak type loss but nothing at all for the first 1cm without weight on it.

Parra Lake XC Loop

When:
Sunday, 9 March, 2008 - 08:30

The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.

Meeting Point:

Car Park in Lake Parramatta

Show on Google maps: Meeting point. Login or register to get directions.

This is a XC loop ride. We are not riding the technical single track around the lake (which is too busy with walkers). What we are doing is much easier and will suit new riders and those who do not feel as fit as they wish they did. On the other hand, I can point out the technical areas (Kurt n’ Co’s Jump Park) if that floats your boat.

We start at the Car Park in Lake Parramatta and make our way along combinations of fire trail and flowing (easy to ride) single track to Plymouth Avenue.
