Get Lost, got lost

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I'm planning a weekend trip to Ouriumbha with me bird and I'm wondering if anyone has any tips on not getting lost.

Since i've been here i've been to cascade, manly dam, oxford falls, narrabean lake (although ended up in oxford falls) and the place down south campbell town with the xc course, and every time i've been completely lost.

Now it doesn't help that i get lost walking to the shops or driving to work, but i was wondering if anyone can recommend any maps (and where to buy them), techniques, sat nav (i have a garmin for my car) or otherwise (bread crumbs etc) to assist.

Course comparison

Comparison between 2008 Angry Doctor course and the 2007 course. The Blue course is 2008 and yellow is 2007. There is quite a big difference as you can see - they added more hills and single track for this years event.

Not sure how to describe this event - a mixture of both pleasure and pain.

Long periods of extreme pain from unbelievable cramps. My muscles were spasming like there were aliens inside them moving around from about 25kms to the end. Getting off didn't help - the only thing to do was to keep moving and keep the legs spinning. I think maybe the three red wines the night before wasn't a good idea, but then again lots of others I spoke to were cramping.

How is the Oaks Trail looking recently?

Hello fellow MTB’ers

Has anyone ridden the Oaks Trail in the Blue Mts recently? I know they were doing some pretty major Maintenance work on it a month or 2 ago.

What kind of condition is it in? is it now like a smooth highway? I hope they haven’t touched the Singletrack!!

What a ride

That was so much fun, although my bodoy's feeling it today. Those single tracks felt like riding a roller coaster. It was a great pick me up to see Steve01 at around the 70 km and swap stories about whose body was in the most pain. Cramping legs made that last 20k pretty difficult. 6 hr and 7 min - I'm pretty stoked.

What a good event. Wonderful location.
It's great that the state forests are a place that trail building can occur and we can reap the benefits. All credit to the organisers and locals for the quality and conditions of the trails.

3:23:00 and 69 overall. 23 in Vets out of 103. Very pleased indeed.

Results are up, I got 2.59.18 for the irate intern. I'm stoked! 26th place and 6th in my class (veterans). I think it must be that hill's fest Rob and Gazza6 took us on Smiling
