Map of Ourimbah trails
Does anyone have, or know where to get a comprehensive and current map of the xc and dh trails in Ourimbah State Forest? I have only been there twice so far and am very keen to sample all of the magic trails.
Thanks for your help

Digging at Rydal
People trying to go around puddles instead of through them had chopped a few sections at Rydal pretty bad (If you go through the puddle you get your bike dirty and make the puddle deeper, easy fix. If you try and go around you just end up with a wide bog hole)
Any way finally got some time to get out there and help Richard with a bit of remediation

Mont 24 2012 - Trail Traffic Warning :-)
Happy trails!
Watch out for extra wide loads on the trails - Team 'Big Test Icicles' is out in force...causing controversy again!
See you at the Mont!

The 'Team Big Test Icicles' is fielding a 'Brady Bunch' this year...

Break Pads
Hi everyone,
I did a search on damaged break pads and couldn't find a post so if there is one, please direct me to it otherwise here goes;
I've got a very new 29er, had used it twice off road before we started getting all this rain. I had taken my time to bed in the pads etc and they were working great.

Rider Down
I cringe each time I see a thread here about a rider colliding with a car. This morning I went for a ride about 5:30 and early on while doing the back streets around Parramatta I arrived at the scene of a rider down at a roundabout. He had been hit in the middle of the roundabout and landed in the gutter about 15m away.
His name is Tom and he was heading to work at Homebush. While he was banged up pretty bad and appears to have lower back injuries amongst others he was in good spirits for someone bashed up. The Ambulance team were great. Good luck with your recovery Tom!
29ers dead?
First round of 2012 XC World Champs won on 650B wheels. Latest fad? Best compromise between 26 and 29" hoops? Are 29ers dead? Already?

DT Swiss 240, remove dust caps (front)
hi there,
Anyone know how to remove the dust caps? Trying to convert from QR to thru bolt.
Recently did the rear and the caps came straight off.
These ones at the front aren't willing to come off without a fight though and I don't want to break anything.
Thanks

Brake Pads
A bit lost on which brake pads I should buy… I moved to disc brake not long ago :/
I've got a GT Sensor 3.0 2011, and from what I can find on various websites, I have apparently what's looking like Shimano BR-M445, which needs B01S pads. Am I right? I can find these on Torpedo7, are these so rare?
Cheers
UST 26" tyres
I am curious what others are riding on around Manly Dam. I have a set of UST 'The Captain' specialized and they have a tight set of center knobs and they tend to loose traction really easily of the sandy rocky step ups. I am over the whole Schwable thing, what about the maxxis? What are you using?

Thoughts and prayers
please for my step brother and his family who is currently in an induced comma in John Hunter Hospital following an accident on his Friday morning commute.
Is this you?
I found this quite funny, maybe its what the cyclist hater club thinks all cyclists are like.
torque wrench
I'm using a few carbon fibre bits on my bike now, and I'm consciously aware of over tightening certain bolts!
What should I be looking out for when it comes to torque wrench's for MTB? Can anyone recommend a specific brand, size and all the bolt sizes so I can smarten up in this area?
Ourimbah
Has anyone ridden at ourimbah today. Im thiking about heading up for the xc tomorrow, but if its a slopfest I will give it a miss, stick to the road & ave it all fosr next weekend. Cheers
M************ Bike!
Language warning for this video, it is definitely Not Suitable For Work, so mods feel free to take down if you think content is appropriate.
However, it is *very* funny. Well, I thought... captures the hipster fixie scene really well
Edit: link removed. Title on YT vid too explicit. Search on "Sons of Science" and you'll see what I mean
Pietermaritzburg World Cup XC Course - Video
What a sweet course!
However, it does go to show a few things...
1/. Mnt Annan is basically the perfect place to train for a World Cup (other than a few steeper / techo bits)
2/. A 29er is the only bike to ride and rear suspension is not required
3/. Tread on tyres is irrelevant as its all super super groomed.
I'm sure there will be some response that its not hard enough, and maybe boring - but it has claimed skin so far from the best of Australia in test riding.
How good does it look!!!!??
Convict 100 (50km course)
I am looking to do the 50km course of the Convict 100 and was wandering if any one can give me an idea of how tough it is. I am reasonably fit BUT my MTB skills are very average. I have done quite a few adventure races, (such as Akuna Bay, Gloucester tri, all about 3 to 4 hrs) but not a straight MTB event. Is this too tough for a first time go at these type of races?
Red Bull Streaming MTB 2012 World Cup Events Live
Starts this weekend in Sth Africa
I always go on about You Yangs...
These are two clips of two of my favourite tracks at You Yangs near Geelong. These are trails that flow, make you think and allow for massive ranges of riders and progression in ones riding.
Cressy Climb is fast, reasonably technical for XC with huge berms and some nice rocky sections.
Boulder Run uses the giant boulders that litter the park to create an really flowing trail that feels super technical and has huge exposure but just really is lots of fun.
Last minute favour?
Anyone on the northern beaches got a new 10 speed xt or xtr rear derailer lying around that I could take off them, then return with a new one next week?
I know it's a long shot but I dont have any time to be driving round looking for one and have a race on Sunday.
Cheers,
Gazza

Little Manly Dam clip
Went out for a ride yesterday at the Dam, being the glorious weather that it was, thought i would take the chest mount GoPro with me that i bought for Skiing and made a little clip. My riding isnt anything special, but it may help you through your day at the office

Getting into club riding
Hi all,
Just inquiring what the best way might be to getting into a local club. I am currently doing most rides on my own, which is getting a bit boring really. I would like to get into just general events, & helping out etc. Small enduro events, light racing etc.
Anyone have any experience on how it all works.
Thanks.
Jason.
