Unwrapping the purchases

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

I don't have any questions, just wanted to brag. God I love it when the stuff you bought arrives in the post.

Plus it all turned up at the same time.

V4 Adventure light set from Ayup, which was ordered on Sunday night (thanks for the recommendation Yarg!)

Salomon XT Wings 2 shoes, Stans no tube kit and some other little bits and pieces from Wiggle.

It's like Xmas right now. Smiling

Don't forget - submissions for Hornsby MTB Trail close tomorrow!

Hornsby Mountain Bike Park (submit a short letter)

Greetings all. In case you forgot, submissions for Hornsby MTB park close tomorrow.

See the thread here: Hornsby Mountain Bike Park (submit a short letter).

HSMBA sent out a short update this morning and it seems that local NIMBYs are again trying to stir things up so it's vitally important to balance this out with messages of support from the MTB community.

Please send your positive submissions to [email protected] before close of business tomorrow.

Thank you Smiling

Hornsby trails - last chance to vote for it is today!

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Copied this from an email sent to all HSMBA members:

Hi Everyone,

Submissions close on the 30/9 for commenting on the Mountain Bike
Trails proposed for Hornsby.

THAT'S TOMORROW!

One of our members who lives in Dural St (which borders the trail
locations) has been approached by a group who are rallying the
community to urge Council to reduce the number of trails in the South
of Hornsby Park.

At the end of the day Council will weigh up the submissions made to
Council. So if they get more positive letters then it will help our case
to get the trails built.

An epic edit by Scotty T

5 years ago the Central Tablelands Mountain Bike Club lost the lease on their downhill track up at the State Mine Reserve in Lithgow. This track was a part of both the NSW State Downhill Series and the Australian National Downhill Series. Since then the club has battled through thick and thin trying to find an area suitable to hold both State and National races again. Continued in first comment..

Tyres, different sizes

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Just curious to know if it's a good choice or if there any benefit to ride with tyres of different sizes (at the same time)?
On the bike I recently bought (dual suspensions), they mounted a 26x 2.35 at the front and a 26x 2.1 at the back (Maxxis High Roller).

Cheers

Just a summary of different combinations I could read true all of these nice advices:
FRONT — BACK
Maxxis Ignitor + Maxxis Larsen TT
Kenda Nevegal + Kenda Slant Six
Schwalbe Nobby Nic + Schwalbe Racing Ralph
Maxxix Ignitor + Maxxix Crossmark
Maxxis Crossmarks ++
Maxxis Larsen TT ++

Just bought myself a 2012 Giant Anthem X3.....my first dual-sus bike. Rides really well and soaks up the bumps nicely but just wondered where I can get air pressure settings? The front forks have a sticker on stating my weight & recommended air pressure but I cannot find any info on what to set the rear to - can anyone help me out please?

Cowan Trail Update

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Here is the official response I managed the elicit from NPWS which they were very kind to provide on official letterhead. I have attached a JPEG image of the letter so you can save, print out and keep in your backpack as I will just in case you are stopped or abused by walkers when riding the trail. Alternatively, you can PM for a PDF version. Here's the email I received last week:

I can confirm that mountain bikes are permitted to use the Cowan Track / Fire trail (that goes off the Long trail) in KCNP.

Rain? Manly/ northern beaches

Thinking of hitting up the dam for a ride. Can anyone tell me how much rain has fallen that way?

Is it too wet to ride it?

Thanks

Lost Ipod - Manly Dam - by the pipeline

Hi everyone,

Last Sunday week I snapped my chain in the first third of the climb up the back side of Manly Dam extension next to the large water pipe. When I had finished repairing it I forgot to pick up a small Ipod, one of the old, old ones - Grey square with a small color screen.

If anyone happened to see it and picked it up I would really appreciate getting it back off ya!

Thanks,

Alberto

help please

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I am just posting in hope that someone can set me up with someone who can fix my rear derailleur cables for me (from what i have researched it is a simple process if you know what your doing). The problem is that the bike shops seem to be clogged up until after the school hols, and i have been looking forward to riding since ages and ages ago. Then mu cable snapped last week and i am now felling absolutely terrible. Any solutions are very welcome.

Thanks in advance (hopefully Eye-wink )

Will
