Tyres

Hi.
I am planning to put on some new tires before the Scott 24hr as my old Rocket Ron's are worn out (only at back). I am riding a scott scale 60 and would anyone be able to recommend some brands of tires that work well for speed and grip and dont tend to cause flats. Does it matter if the 2 tires are different and have different tread patterns on them as well.
Thanks

The joy of riding in the bush

This was posted on another forum I frequent. Filmed in Castlemaine, Victoria, I thought it captured eloquently "the moment" or the sense of "flow" we experience when out in the bush on our bikes. The magpie song warbling in the background kinda just capped it off for me.

One way at Royal National Park

Wouldn't that be a good idea to setup an 'one way' on some single tracks in the Royal National Park?
It can be easily dangerous when riding and have someone coming on the opposite way.

I'm thinking on the 'Loftus Sniggle', 'The Lakes Trail' and 'Goarra Single Track'.

It never happen to me yet on a single track, but it did on the firetrail/single trail
next to The Avenue in Heathcote… wasn't far to be a serious crash.

What's your opinion?
If so, who and how should we contact to make thing happen?

Cheers.

MOUNTAIN bikers will be welcomed back into some state national parks under a government plan to stop illegal trails being cut.

Construction will start on a series of dedicated tracks in parks around Sydney in the next few weeks, including trails in Garigal National Park and Berowra Valley Regional Park on the north shore, the government has said.

Salsa Dos niner 29er

Does anyone have any info on this 29er with the small little shock under the bum?
Have they been discontinued?
Anyone got one or know anyone who wants to part with a large frame?
Where is the best place to get one in Sydney?

Hi Peeps,

Want to get some new high quality bib knicks for the C2C and have been looking at the Assos range (FI Mille S5 Long leg ), obviously great quality but they suggest a medium for my height (175cm) but with a 38inch waist, 26inch thighs and being a 100 kilos im worried these will be too small, dilemma is all my current ones are really too big now and dont want to make an expensive mistake lol.

New rims for anthem XO 2009

Hi.

Not sure if this is the place to ask but will give it a try.

I have a Anthem XO 2009 XC mountain bike (http://www2.giant-bicycles.com/en-au/bikes/mount...) and was wanting to buy a second set of rims to use for riding to work, so that I don't have to change tyres, etc.

Currently using Maxxis Xmark UST 26x2.1 tubeless for XC and a set of Continental city tyres 26x1.5 with (with tubes) for commuting (http://www.wiggle.co.uk/continental-comfortconta...).

Need an opinion

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Hi all. Needing an experienced opinion about Mongoose bikes. I can get my hands on a 09 model Canaan Elite with full XTR running gear, Hayes hydraulic discs, fox shocks front and rear, originally $3500 retail, can pick one up for $1800. I have been hunting around for a new bike to upgrade to (riding a GT avalanche 2.0 currently), and this seems almost too good to pass up. I know Mongoose and GT are one and the same now, with the "freedrive" system it uses, being technically the GT idrive. Just wondering if this is a good buy?

Lost Front Wheel Loftus Oval Carpark

one of our mates has accidently left her front wheel in the Loftus Oval Carpark (Royal National Park) this afternoon Saturday 1st Oct. I'm hoping a trusting Nobmobber has found it and took it back to their place for safe keeping.
She really needs this front wheel back as she has the Scott next week and really has had a run of bad luck of late with her bike.
pls call 0422 932215 if you have any info re the wheel
thanks guys

Running

Hi there

Is there any knowledge that anyone can share as to how running and cycling relate?

Never really heard of any good cyclists having also been good runners but I might be wrong?
Does running help with cycling cardio?

29er time....

After doing a couple of events recently I thought I'd better get a 29er and make an attempt to step up to the 100's next year, so here is my weapon of choice. Hopefully pics below.

Had set on a lefty but then got an offer that was too good to refuse, full carbon and SRAM X9.

Now I have to sell my stumpjumper, hard part is pricing it to sell.

I went to MuniBung Mt today (just behind Macquarie hills and next to Lake lands) it has a very good potential for a "Snakes & Ladder" type climb and an awesome single track Downhill.

Manly Damn Entry/Starting point

Hi,
Is there a starting point of the Manly Damn trail near closer to Allambie Road ?
I was thinking of starting the trail for the first time here at the attached picture.

I work in French's Forest so a pre-work ride is do-able.

cheers,
MB

Send in Submissions to Lake Parramatta Draft Plan of Management

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I saw a great idea on Rotorburn - if you send an e-mail, mail in a copy as well.
It will make sure that Parramatta Council gets your submission, especially if you have made some serious effort to discuss the issues.

If you are one of the guys doing a petition, make sure that you keep a photocopy of it (original must go to Council), particularly if you mail it in.
If you've got access to a fax, you can also try faxing an extra copy to them but mark that as "COPY".
