Red Hill Downhill/Freeride track location?

Hey guys,

Just wanted to know which track at Red Hill is the best for downhill/freeride? Like one with drops, wooden ramps etc?

I've seen photos of them but I don't know where they are exactly and i've only ever been to Red Hill dirt jumps.

Can you please tell me the track name which is listed on nobmob and also let me know which road i should enter the track from.

Cheers
Blake

question on helmets

Hi all,

question on helmets. was told by a guy at the LBS that helmets should be replaced every 5 years or so as the foam in the helmet degrades over time. therefore it's ability to absorb impacts reduce. Is that the case or are they just trying to sell me stuff?

thanks

Fork rebuild

Just had my fork rebuilt and wow what a difference... Fork has compression once again and MUCH more responsive, absorbs all bumps better then it ever has. Ended up doing all bushings, dust wipers and seals. How hard is it to do myself because it took two weeks turnaround!! and an arm and a leg to pay for.

Thanks.

Spare Part for Pedros Floor Pump help

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi all, was wondering if some fantastic human being could help me... I have lost a small plastic screw cap thingy from the base of my Pedros floor pump (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?M...) (it got knocked off whenm packed into the car or something). Now it is effectively useless as air just escapes through the open hole. Can anyone tell me where I could source spare Pedros parts? Or a bike shop in Sydney that stocks Pedros product to start with?

Can anyone help me find out what bearing size for my rear hub please? - Rhythm Comp TLR Disc 29

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hello all,

I've got Rhythm Comp TLR Disc 29 wheels (http://bontrager.com/model/07853) and the website boasts the following specification/features:

Features
* Sealed bearing hubs, 6061 series aluminum rim and butted j-bend spokes all add up to a wheel that is durable and easily serviced

I'd like to replace my rear bearings as the rear wheel has limited momentum when I turn it (I've removed the brake caliper so I know it's not badly adjusted brake pads).

Nowra - Coondoo, Superbowl & Butterfly

Am going to ride this area this weekend.

Can someone suggest the best starting point, ie parking spot...

Do these 3 trails link up top each other in one ride and how well marked is it?

What direction do the trails run? Clockwise?

Does anyone know the condition of the tracks?

Thanks for any help.

Kiwarrak conditions

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

G'day. I need some advice from Taree locals. Am intending to head up to Forster from Sydney this weekend to visit family, and was wondering whether Kiwarrak would be worth riding, or shoud be avoided until weather improves.

Weatherzone is showing rain today and tomorrow, followed by occasional showers Saturday and Sunday: http://www.weatherchannel.com.au/WeatherMap#NSW/...

Would you expect it to be too wet to ride? Don't want to hurt your good work by riding in inappropriate conditions.

Mojo bottle cage help?

What do other Ibis mojo riders out there do for a bottle cage? I know there is a spot for one under the down tube but its hard to reach while riding and it also gets alot of dirt/ mud on it from the front wheel so its not an ideal spot.

People will tell me just to use a hydration pack which I already do, but in long events such as the dirtworks i'd like to have the camelbak for water and a bottle for electrolyte.

Does anyone have suggestions?

It's posted as a ride in the Western Sydney Unicyclist website. If you are a two wheeler at all interested in watching, taking photos or videos feel free to tag along. Or just up for a nice relaxed social ride. Will be going at a slow pace (~2 hours), stopping and playing at all the fun sections.

Find more about the ride here: http://wsuc.net.au/node/20305.

Replacing Stan's

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I have had my tubeless tyres on for around 6 to 9 months with just a very small top up of sealant before the Fling last year (through the valve). I assumed that it would be completely dried up by now but to my amazement I have just removed the tyre and there is still a large amount of sealant in the tyre along with a very strange little latexy creature.

Letting kids ride to school doesn't make you a bad parent

A few here might be interested in this:

http://www.smh.com.au/opinion/society-and-cultur...

...Forty years ago 80 per cent of Australian children walked or rode a bike to school, and felt comfortable doing it... today it is thought that less than 20 per cent of children get to school under their own steam.

That's a sad statistic, eh? Sad

Ride to School Day is tomorrow (March 16).

Recently moved to North Sydney and interested in hooking up with new people for rides...

Hey

I've been riding a few local tracks, Oxford Falls, Manly Dam, Red Hill and various dirt jump/pump track parks etc.

I don't know anyone from Sydney yet so it would be good to hook up with some Downhill/Freeride riders around my age (I'm 19) and ride at Oxy or where ever. I hit up the trails a few times a week at the moment and I'll be racing at most of the clubbys and state series too.

Let me know if you're interested

Cheers

Came across 2 burnt out cars on the management trail above the lagoon this morning.

Not sure if parks know about them to get removed.

DH Hardtail VS Dually

Hey,

I been dabbling with a XC on DH tracks and ready to step up an buy a DH specific bike but wanted some input from others with DH's as to what peoples opinions are on whether a hardtail or dually is best for tackling DH trax...

A mate swears by Norco's but visually i tend to like specialized and giant frame designs, from what i've been checking out on ebay, same mate also swears by triple crown forks, should i opt for these with my first DH...?

Cheers.

Riding with a shortened chain

Guys/Gals,

Need some advice,

I twisted a chain link yesterday during a Manly Dam ride. We removed the offending chain link and one other so that we could reassemble the chain and continue on the ride.

There appears to be no more bent link and the bike is running as smoothly as before.

Do I need to replace the chain immediately or can I continue as is for a little while? Can I just get two links and add them to the chain? Am I likely to damage anything by doing this?

Thanks

Lost Specialized Bike Computer at Cascades

Folks

I lost my specialized bike computer on the Cascades track on Sunday morning. I believe it came off on the downhill from Douglas Street exit or possibly on Lower Cambourne. I noticed it was missing at the creek crossing but I definatelty had it when starting out at Douglas street.

if anyone found/finds it, you'll make a MTB'er very happy. Please PM me

thanks
