New to Sydney - Live close to Manly Dam
Hi,
I am new to Sydney and living close to Manly Dam. Looking for people to hit up the trails at Manly Dam a few times a week to get my fitness back up. Don't currently have a car so that is why I am thinking Manly Dam as it is riding distance for me. Would love to meet some of you local riders for a blat on the bike. If the weather is good I hope to head out a few times during the week as I am not working this week.
Hope to hear from you locals.
Cheers,
Jeremy

The season finale of The Atherton Project
Very funny, if a slightly bad example to the kids
Gee is working on a drop that he say's is a "Steep ass canyon... with a vertical landing") that on the video looks like riding off a cliff (which it is of course!).
He's being too subtle, Darren Roberts (Red Bull Performance Manager), described it thus: "This is f&cked, this is totally f&cked. It actually goes through a hole in the space time continuum down there... into, like, an alternate universe of f&cked up-ness where the laws of physics don't apply".
What Steve Peat does on the off season!
Was just looking at a friends photo's from the weekend on facebook.
He'd been to watch 'The Scott Trial'. Without doubt the hardest one day motorbike trial on the planet which is held every year in my local area of Swaledale in the Yorkshire Dales.
i couldn't believe when i saw the Steve Peat was in it! Go on my son!!!!!!!!!!

Canberra accommodation for 4 to 6 ?
I'm heading down to Canberra mid-November with 3 to 5 mates for a weekends riding. Can anyone suggest reasonable priced cabin, house or unit that sleeps 4 to 6 people. Have searched on Internet sites but they keep coming up with hotel rooms for 2. Thanks Ecca
Forum Round up for Oct 22
Haven't done one for a while, so here's a quick forum round up for those looking to pass time on a Friday.
Sunny started quite a discussion about servicing tools - a worthy investment for any budding mechanic, right? For those already competent with a hex key or two there were lots of new machines shown off. Then there's that nice story about a Lost Phone & Multi Tool in Cascades that ended well... lucky!
Hopefully the pain of the 24 Hour Solo Worlds Champs has faded for those who did battle recently. There was a very nice Pit Crew Report too. Crazy, the lot of you!
Speaking of races, the Highland Fling is now only 3 weeks away. Surely the pick of this weekend's rides will then be the In for the Fling Mega Loop. Or would you prefer Sunday's Berowra fun stuff?
Finally, a big thanks to everyone who has taken a moment to complete the NPWS MTB Discussion Paper feedback form. Those comments are closing Monday so you still have time if you haven't added your voice yet!
Looking for a Sydney Ride
I ride regularly in the Newcastle area, trails such as Glenrock, Awaba and also frequent Ourimbah. I will be in Sydney on the weekend 13/14 November and am trying to tee up a ride with some locals who can lead me around, Manly Dam, Oxford falls or any other trails south in the National Park or in the mountains (happy to travel to see something different). I don’t get to Sydney often to ride, don’t know the trails real well and the guys I normally ride with in Sydney are doing the fling.
Clear 'sun' glasses for night riding
I've ridden the Oaks at night twice in the last couple of months and my el-cheapo triple lens (clear, yellow & tinted) Anaconda specials just aren't good enough for night riding.
I own a pair of Rudy Project sunglasses for day riding and I am mostly happy with them. I sweat profusely which means these tend to fog up a little bit.
Northern Beaches ride
I want to get a few k's up to see if I am up to competing in the Fling.
My plan is to ride Red Hill up through Oxford Falls through Cascades over to Terry Hills down through Narrabeen to complete a big loop - legs and lungs permitting.
Just seeing if anyone would be interested if, so I will post a ride.
Riding Buddies for regular rides
Hi, I am looking for someone or small group to ride with on a regular basis.
By way of background I ride mainly socially and regularly ride Duck Hole/Centre Track/Perimeter Trail. I am in the fifty age group and ride for the exercise and enjoyment and meeting new people. My fitness level is average to above average, I ride a Giant Trance XC 3. I also enjoy the night rides.
I am not a fast rider, slow up hills but can handle the flat and downhill sections fairly quick.
Looking forward to receiving some repliesif yuo think I can be accommodated.
Cheers,
Cliff W

Bottom Bracket
Looks like my bottom bracket has gone. Hopefully it will be under warranty but I have heard the FSA ones can have a short life span.
Can I get any bottom bracket brand and if so, anyone recommend one. Its a BB30 for a Cannondale RZ140.

Update on Manly Warringah War Memorial Park Plan of Management
News just in from the council (think this was sent to an email list, many of you probably have it too):
I am emailing to update you on the progress of the Manly Warringah War Memorial Park Plan of Management. As you probably know, we had originally hoped to release an ‘Issues and Directions Discussion Paper’ for comment in September.
However, due to the importance of Manly Dam and the need to fully understand the impacts of each of the views and values expressed during the consultation, this paper will now be released in November 2010.
Mount Banks
Has anybody ever ride around there?
I spot from Google Earth trails going off the road, are they single tracks we could ride on (point 1 and 2)?
It look the road (Mount Banks Road) is going for ever…
Check on Google Maps, My Maps, pointed what I'm talking about.
See also point 5, looks like something is continuing at the end of that road.
Cheap frames on eBay
So, there are these cheap carbon frames on eBay that look like a real bargain.
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/New-STARS-Full-Carbon-MTB...
There are a few things online about them, most people that have taken the gamble seem to be happy. Of coruse the real worry would be having it snap in half while riding it but I cab't find any of those horror stories.
I was thinking of replacing the Kona frame I use on my comuter bike and this looks nice and light.
Site outage - Major D'oh!
So... someone let the NoBMoB domain expire. It was renewed just now (Sunday morning) but a lot of people might well still see an outage.
It might be too late to mention this, but you can access all the NoBMoB content (and that from other Global Riders sites) on the below URL:
This site is kindof 'test' status and needs some work on the homepage and theme, but it gets the job done.
Of course, you could just login to any of the other Global Riders sites and so long as you have 'Always view content from nobmob.com' check in your profile (access and content) will be able to see all that content too.
Apologies for this. The head hamster will be taken out on a bike ride and fed to the first carpet Python we come across!
Looking to upgrade...
Hi,
About 18 months ago i bought a Cannondale Chase hardtail. Now I'm looking to upgrade to a dual (DH oriented) bike.

Cheers in advance.
