RNP Cycling Plan - Updated and requires volunteers

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

The below was forwarded to me by a club member and looks like good news for Royal National Park (aka. RNP, Nasho) riders.

Note that NPWS are asking for trail maintenance volunteers and offering parks passes as added incentive.

Contact the email given if you are interested. And comment here to encourage others? Smiling

Update: The first day has been arranged, details here: http://nobmob.com/node/10201

Drafting Spline

Any one know where to buy one or have one in good condition they want to sell?

(I know nothing to do with bikes - but I can't find one)

So, they're now promoting mtbing as a tourism attraction. I guess NSW Tourism don't speak to NPWS....

Lost tools - Cascades

Lost my Air Kiss CO2 canister & adapter, Chain tool, SRAM powerlink and Tyre levers on the Cascades trail not far from the Quarry climb turn-off on Sunday morning at about 8.30am when the zip on my saddle bag decided to break. There were heaps of walkers and joggers in the area so if anyone found these let me know.

Oxford Falls

I was out riding around Oxford Falls on the weekend and noticed that the fences blocking the cross country track had been cut down. Is this vandalism or is it something the Parks have done?

Mid week day-time spin anyone??

Hi,

I'm off work this week so if anyone is heading out for a spin and wouldnt mind some company then please do let me know....I've met some of you on the Wisemann' Ferry Spin a few weeks ago so I'd be willing and able for lots of technical stuff at a 'social' pace;-) Dont know enough of the trails yet to organise anything and am dying to get out on the bike again!

Cheers,
Una

Serious

OK, lets get serious

I don't know if this is possible, so call me mad if you want but... Has anyone done Andos+Oaks and back again?
That would make about 120km of offroad with about 2900m climbing.

I'm up for doing something similar next weekend, perhaps Andos+Oaks with extras. I want to get as close the doctor distance and climb as I can, but at a "base level" pace.

Anyone else keen?

Linden Ridge this morning

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Here's a bit of a ride report from my ride at Linden Ridge today.

This one has a bit of everything, including 11kms of undulating singletrack and a cruisy firetrail with waterbars.

It worked out at about 25kms all up - out and back.

The track was nice and dry, and had very few riders on it. The singletrack section was pretty heavily vegetated in places, and was in need of a haircut. You definitely need protection on the eyes, knuckles, and knees. But in other parts it was fantastic, a good mix of technical sections, plus some flowy bits on a leaf litter base.

Hello,

Just thought I would introduce myself and see if I could make contact with riders able to do mid week rides.

Late Sunday spin?

Phew... so after a massive 16.5km in almost 4 hours today think I have the energy for another ride tomorrow Eye-wink

Don't fancy anything too early so 11am onwards might work. Anyone else have the same sort of feeling?

I'm not looking to smash any distance records but really should ride double today's effort at least Sticking out tongue

Cheers!

Looking for a team for the Scott 24

I'm looking to join a team for the Scott 24, hopefully 3 or 4, mixed or straight.
I'm up for setting a decent pace (single laps), but also having a good time.

Trail Status Updates

The traffic lights are here Smiling

Anyone can add brief details on the condition of any trail areas on the site with the status entry form here.

Let's see how this goes. We might have to have an flag to show 'official' updates from rangers for places like the Dam, but conditions updates can be useful for other areas too.

If we make a habit of coming home and reporting back the conditions for others that would be great.

Enjoy Smiling

Pedals - What do you use?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

After opinions on pedals.

I currently run a set of VP clipless pedals that also have a platform. They are quite heavy (I think I weighed them at 564g :0 ) and I want to upgrade. If I'm going to spend the money, I want to get something decent and light.

XT $132 and 352g. Probably my first choice, as I'm a bit of a shimano whore.

XTR $195 and 325g. Not sure if the extra expence validates the 27g saving.

Pain behind the knee caps

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Anyone else experienced quite sharp pain behind the knee caps?

I can start to feel it and it bothers me a little bit whilst riding. But it's when I get off the bike and I go to squat down, walk up or more so walk down stairs. The pain get's so intense my leg almosts collapses. My right knee seems worse than my left. And it pretty much goes after a few days of not riding.

I was told that it could be my riding position and the angle that my cleats are set up at. Yes, I use clipless pedals.

Notes from LCNP Stakeholder Meeting 16 Jul

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

So, I went to a LCNP stakeholder meeting with NPWS last night. Here are a few notes that people here might be interested in...

There were maybe 35 people there. Mostly they were the from the more mature park patronage age group. The only recreational pursuits represented (by 4 people) were kayaking, MTB, trail running. There were a few officials from local councils, RTA, etc. and the rest of the group being from more conservation based groups.

Weird feeling from rear wheel

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

G'day all,

Having owned my Enduro for a few months now I'm starting to really get a good feel for the bike and how it behaves. Though one thing is bothering me.

As I ride along, the rear wheel feels like I have a flat tyre....
