2010 Giant Catalog

The complete Giant catalogue for 2010 is online here http://www.giant-bicycles.com.au/emag.html . I has got all the specs for all of the bikes but not the prices.

They haven't got rid of the reign as many people thought they would.

Racing DVD's

Does anyone out there know of a DVD i can throw on while i participate in my new sport of Indoor bike training . I have a copy of the 2006 24 hour solo (where Craig Gordon proves Aussies are the toughest riders) and love the helmet shots . I kinda know the ending now and need more inspiration , and single track action . There are a few freeride / dirtjump DVD's but these dont help as i seem to like to ride to racing and single track better
Thanks

Wayne

Wednesday, 12 August 2009
Manly MP Mike Baird is today meeting with the Environment Minister Carmel Tebbutt to find a solution that would give mountain bikers access to sustainable tracks but ensure the environment is protected.

“I believe a win-win situation is possible. Our national parks must be protected but they should also be enjoyed,” Mr Baird said.

Entries have just opened for 2009 Capertee-Challenge 26/27th September at www.capertee-challenge.com . I did it last year and it was a lot of fun and the two 50km+ loops over saturday afternoon and sunday morning is an interesting way to wind down from the more difficult 100km Mogo ride whilst keeping fitness.

Weekend ride - Ideas Please

There are 5 of us all on XC hardtails and we're looking for an adventure so roughing it isn't a problem. Mix of technical and firetrail would be ideal. Four hours drive from Sydney and 50KM riding distance would be the max.

We were thinking of Mt Stomlo but it's closed when we've got our leave passes so we'd like some other recommendations! Suggestions?

Show your support for LCNP trails!

Next week (Aug 18) there will be a NPWS public meeting regarding the LCNP plan of management. As previously discussed, and as per the meeting here:

http://nobmob.com/node/9946

If you care about riding in LCNP or other Sydney parks it's important to turn up and show your support. Please make time and come along if you can.

I guess they are expecting a large turnout as you must register your intent to show up at this meeting, by one of these methods:

Email [email protected] (preferred)
Tel: 02 8448 0400

All good? See you there!

Need a lift to the 3 Ring Circus ride?

Hi

Does anyone need a lift to 3 Ring Circus event? I'm driving down Saturday morning and looking for some company. Plan is to leave Balgowlah at 6am, arriving around 8am. If you're keen and live on the Northern Beaches let me know and we can work out logistics. Sharing petrol cost would be good.

Cheers

Paul

SRAM Power Link Recall

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Received this mail from Jenson over the weekend:

SRAM has announced a voluntary recall of some PowerLock 10sp chain connectors. The affected products were sold separately with the connector by itself, and also as a connector that was included with a SRAM 10sp chain. The connecting link can fail, which could lead to a loss of control of the bicycle.

Although SRAM indicates that the potential for failure is low, out of an abundance of caution we are sending you this message and request that you promptly inspect your PowerLock connecting link:

Liverpool Council Bike plan call for submissions

Guys, just a headsup.

Liverpool council has produced a draft cycling plan and it is now open to public comments until August 19th.

http://www.liverpool.nsw.gov.au/LCC/INTERNET/me....

The plan mentions every form of cycling except MTB! Amazing when you consider how many young people live in that area, and the proximity to council bushland and reserves.

Now is the chance to be heard. Might also be a good idea to submit the excellent Nobmob Oxford Falls document as a reference item, since it covers many of the general social aspects of MTB.

technique for manly dam steps?

Hey all, first time poster. My question is about riding up the steps at manly dam (eg, http://nobmob.com/node/5597), the point being that I can't. Any tips for young players? Ride it fast? Lift up the front wheel? Lean forward? Lowest gear or slightly higher?

Cheers for any help.

bike service

Hope this is the right forum for this.

I've had two services from a bike shop on the Northern beaches - both of which have been terrible (same shop, I thought the first bad one may just have been a one off). Can anyone recommend a good service shop on the Northern Beaches that do a thorough job - I am not a mechanic and expect the service person to be able to tell me if I need something replaced.

Last place didn't check the rear pads - found out half way through one of the manic down hill bits on the Dirt works 100!!

Cheers
