CCOMTB - Club Race - 2010 Round 4
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
Enter via Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. On your right will be 'TreeTops' for the kids and it's large-ish carpark. Carry on past there and the first small clearing which is were parking used to be, and is where the 'Browns' single track turns (you might see riders on your left here).
Parking and official trail head is now designated a further 350m or so up the road where a there is a larger area. There's a CCOMTB sign here by the trail entrance (on the left as you drive up). Park up nose to curb or as directed.
Awesome race at the best track around (ok, so I'm biased). Come along and race, and be home for lunch. Please park at the upper car park, I believe the lower one shouldn't be used by MTB riders any more.
XC Race day Fees are $15.00 plus an additional $15 for an MTBA day license if you don't have one. Registration is from 8am, racing starts at 9.30 sharp.

CCOMTB - Club Race - 2010 Round 3 DEMTEL CHALLENGE
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
North End of Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. There's a large-ish parking area here, just off the main sealed road. There is also a smaller parking area a little further (400m or so from the road) where the trail splits - this second area is the usual meeting point. If you end up driving up a steep hill you've gone too far.

A Big Thanks
I know it's been said a few times inside various threads, but I wanted to say a BIG thanks to Rob, Hawkeye and everyone who actively got involved in campaigning for the re-opening of the Dam and it's successful outcome.
More importantly, without the very existence of this site I'm not sure if we would have had the same outcome, so thank to all those who actively participate maintaining the site.
Some forums can be full of over opinionated, uninformed users but here I think there is great attitude that encapsulates the spirit of mountain biking in many ways.

Formal notification of Manly Dam trail reopening
Formal notification of the trail reopening just appeared on Council's website:
http://www.warringah.nsw.gov.au/community/mounta...
Apparently the amended trail signs are to be erected by the weekend.
For those who had volunteered their time for Operation Secret Squirrel, thanks so much for your generosity. The erection of the signs will distort what we were hoping to achieve, unfortunately, so it sounds to me like a good excuse for y'all to go use the time for a ride instead. I'm probably going to sleep in.

ccomtb 28th?
Hi I'm thinking of heading up to Orimbah this weekend for the xcountry. I can't seem to work their site ( I'm a computer illliterate) so can anyone help with.
1. can i rock up on the day, pay, and ride?
2. Instead of buying a day licence can I buy a year MTBA licence on the day?
3. Where is the track? (Orimbah looks like it's got more than one street)
4. Am I going to look out of place with flats and wearing shorts? (and camelbak)
Thanks
Trev

Super Tuesday bike count volunteers needed in Warringah
Dear Cycling Comrades,
OK, so it doesn't take me long to call in favours
I just had a call from Super Tuesday organisers about Warringah's shortage of human counters next week. Please see email below. This is NOT a council operation, but as you may know, Warringah Council is rolling out the Bike Plan 2010-15 right now for public consultation (out of mothballs after 12 years on the shelf). More to come on that later.
Council management will rely heavily on stats from next week's annual bike count result to fund and prioritise future cycleways.

Back at Manly Dam
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
King Street (near corner with Arana Street), Manly Vale. You know - outside Manly Hydraulics Lab.
I will be riding the Dam trail this evening for this first time since the ban.
The ride will not be very fast (I ride a freeride bike) and a second lap may be in order if it doesnt get too dark.

Manly Daily: Way clear for bikers at Manly Dam … at walkers’ expense
Reporting in today's Manly Daily:
http://manly-daily.whereilive.com.au/news/story/...
Hopefully this might help reduce the damage the Council decision could do future trail advocacy efforts.

Manly Dam update for 25 Feb
Very sandy in some sections, little bit of water down near the creek.
Council Signs and Gate (Near Golf Course) still up, Hopefully be taken down soon.
