Blues Track
Blues Track is a useful trail that can be used to link up the Womerah Range and Jacks Track with the popular Great Northern Road. Very handy for those training for Dirtworks 100.
To access the track heading south from St Albans along Settlers Rd. After 8km's turn left onto Wright's Creek Road (Those who have done The Dirtworks will be familiar with this road). After 2.7km's there is a turn off to a property on the right across the paddock. Follow this road around until you get to a gate. Go through the gate making sure you close it after you. The road is now a farm track, follow this around to the right till you get to the Poplar[?] Trees. There will be a horrid boggy creek crossing on the left, you need to cross this. Continue further about 100m and there will be a second creek crossing, this is much cleaner and will clean all the crap off your drive train from the first crossing. After this crossing veer to the right and you will see a trail begin to form again up the side of the hill to the left. I recommend putting fresh chain lube on before making the ascent. With 230m climbing in the first 2.5km the ascent is pretty fierce and not for the feint hearted. Total ascent for this track is 500m over 10km. The terrain of the first half is quite damp the second quite dry and loose so not the easiest of conditions whilst making the ascent.
The track comes out about halfway along the fireroad that separates the first section of The GNR and the Buddhist Temple. Chuck a right back along the GNR or Western Commission Track to Wiseman's Ferry or if you're not enough pain yet turn left down to Ten Mile Hollow, Clare's Bridge and the second section of GNR loveliness, rinse and repeat.
You can of course always access the trail from the south. It's a 13km ride along Settlers Road from Wisemans Ferry
