Just in from the Ranger:
We are not officially closing the bike trail after rain this time however this email is a quick reminder for riders to keep off the Manly Dam bike trail for a least a few days after rain. We received over 80mm in the last 24 hours, resulting in the track becoming water logged in some places.
The showers are forecast to ease, however we’ll do an assessment later in the week and will advise you if the trail needs to be closed.
The track dries out quickly and the amount of trail damage is dramatically reduced if riders stick to this wet weather 'rule'.
Do you have more information?
If you've ridden here lately please add a more recent report. This will be useful even if the condition is the same as updates expire after 30 days.

I can't believe this either.. Surely it should be closed after that rain?
My coment has gone from the original post, but yeah I can't believe it was declared open this morning.
Will be closed after Today for sure. Rain has been pretty consistent.
Oops. I made a small modification to the status update content types and they got truncated. Luckily I fished out the ranger's email but lost your comment. Sorry
The rangers probably didn't close it because didn't get out of the "hut" to evaluate the trails...
FWIW, I was out at Bantry Bay on a site visit with NPWS rangers today (no, do not hijack this thread and ask about that here!) and there was a massive amount of standing water about.
Manly Dam will be in the same state and should be closed. We should all just not worry what the rangers say in this situation and just do the right thing and stay away until it's had several warm days to dry out.
