Manly Dam update for 26 Jan

Area:
Manly Dam
Status:
Red/Closed

It's hammering down here in Allambie Heights right now and has been all night. There's no getting away from the fact that it will be ridiculously wet, some sections will resemble small creeks and will remain so for a few more days regardless of the weather.

Head up to Duck Holes/Centre at Terrey Hills if you need a ride.

Do you have more information?

If you've ridden here lately please add a more recent report. This will be useful even if the condition is the same as updates expire after 30 days.

So much for my plans to get up to Awaba/Ourimbah and have a nice long ride on Sunday! Can't face the trainer, it's seen too much action this summer as it is.

On the road bike of course!
It's actually nice riding in the rain, as long as it's warm.

I did about 40km this morning on the skinny tyres, from AH to Snives to TH shopping village and return... just the occasional drop from the sky, I got wetter from the standing water on the road.

The rain sure was loud on the roof last night Sad

Anyone been there lately?

Every track in the area has substantial stretches of mud bog, except perhaps Duck Holes and Centre Track, which are still very wet. My bike was covered in crud after Perimeter and Long today even after all the wind we've had teh last two days (see comments added to today's Terrey Hills trail update). I saw bikes on car roof racks coming out of Cascades on the way home that were even worse. Red Hill you'd need Floaties I reckon.

Stick to the fire road / management trails, buy a good bike brush and chain cleaner and rotate your out chain for a clean one after each ride.
