Considering the rain, track is in amazing condition. A lot of recent repair work and a bit of much needed road base in some places makes it easily the best conditioned track on the Central Coast. Seriously consider riding Awaba over Ourimbah.

Um, dude, did you not read the status update above? Red=closed.

The reason it is in such outstanding condition is becasue of the considerable efforts of volunteers. However, their efforts won;t be worth much if ou trash them by riding in the current saturated conditions.

It doesn't take much to do a lot of damage when the trails are wet. Please respect the guys who put the work in on your behalf and honur their request to stay off when wet.

But wasn't the red from a previous date. Scott Genius should just have posted a new status.

Hi Hawkeye. You raise a good point; The message you gave isn't clear from the trail status updates - unless I've missed it myself? - that they're actually meant as a request that riders should stay off the trails, so as to preserve them.

I took them to be an announcement; that the status was dictated by the parks service, who judged trails based on whether the trails/roads were accessible; so that red was - literally - closed due to it being impassable by vehicles.

Can we reinforce the message - "respect the trails by abiding to these requests" - on this site somehow?

The status updates are only based one ones perception of the trail. Any official ones would be on their site (or facebook like Mount Annan). There's been a few threads re this and normally the longer it rains the more heated the discussion gets as everyone starts to get cabin fever.

Riding is like a drug, if you don't get your fix to start to get a bit edgy Eye-wink

Fix? So - all being good with the check-up tomorrow - what will your's be this weekend, Brian? Going to be a weekend roadie also? Smiling

(Looks like the ride I planned for Saturday is off, given the rain. With what's been coming down - and the forecast - the creeks could be a real issue, not to mention the trail surface itself!)

Sorry, missed the difference in the dates. Apologies.

Ditto to posting a new update if conditions have changed since the last status Smiling

So the question is, is Awaba going to be open for a ride anyway if there's a national round on it over the weekend?
