Cascades update for 15 Apr

Lots of resurfacing work has taken place and the diggers are still in there. The track seems to be holding a lot more water; it's really boggy and damp as instead of the nice well draining sand that used to be on the trail we now have a mud / clay mixture all the way.
The ride down from Ralston has been ruined. I road it for the 2nd time today and although my descent time is back to normal it's just not as fun. The water bars are so big and so steep that I found I either had to roll over the or fly like superman. Even when I did fly I found that because of the rapid weight transfer; from going downhill, to shifting weight to go up to the water bar; that my rear wheel was being pitched up and I struggled to get my weight centred during flight. So 1/2 the time was landing very front heavy.
The ride down from Acron oval is still good and hopefully the rest of the trail packs down and gets some nice lines forming after a couple of months.
Do you have more information?

hehehe... sounds like you are having a go at the ramp builders
Only joking, I rode it today and though the same, hard to ride the bars because the take off it so step. But they aren't ramps, more like speed humps at the moment. Quite slow going coming up as well which is probably a good workout, or is it I'm just out of shape?
Ride down from the oval was pretty hard packed but hard to a decent take off because of the erosion on the water bars (again, exactly what they are for I guess).
I reckon a few weeks and a decent line will have packed down nicely.
The ride up Quarry climb is as evil as ever isn't it
I like it though; steep, slippery. It's a good test of climbing skills, strength, balance, etc... and a good technical descent on the way back down.
I do hope the water bars settle a bit. I used to love that ride down from Ralston. Where else do you get 4 minutes of descending at speed on the Beaches!
Quarry climb is evil for sure, and that section in the middle for about 25m is pure loose rocks about the size of tennis balls, and no line formed. I came up the climb thinking I was a chance for riding the whole thing, saw that section ahead and it completely destroyed any sense of hope!
Here's hoping a clear line packs down on Ralston soon. The way it is at the moment, I think even the fire trucks for which these roads are intended are going to struggle.
