I like what i'm reading.
DId you check out Kenny's??
only small bits of slippery soil/mud & just some water on section after the Chute & on easment-just keep speed to a controllable level you will be o.k-forgot to mention in original post those heavy winds have dropped heaps of twigs & sticks on all tracks-stopped heaps of times to pull out of wheels & rear mech.
So its safe to ride without fearing a yellow shirt wearing, pickaxe wielding maniac.
was til I made it rain this morning!
come on wifie get out of bed and look after these kids so i can get a ride in this month
Went for a roadie, lot of bikes coming out of Glenrock. To be fair, they didn't have a huge amount of mud on them.
Anyone been in?
yeah sd, went for a run this morning - its a whole lot better than you would expect - obviously wet and mud here and there, but compared to the last year its held up pretty well - Its going to rain tonight so will be red for tomorrow, but as long as we only see 10 to 20mm i'd say its 2 fine days from orange again, another 2 for green.
Big dipper was pretty awful (enough for me to use the fireroad back up to Fernleighloop rd) kennys was less than great in parts, and the stright section on shaft was pretty crappy. 90min ride and my bike was muddy, but my back was still dry (if you know what I mean)
Thats what I was seeing, bikes with muddy down tubes but clean riders.
i did a loop. Pretty good really. Couple of boggy bits but most of these were on fire roads
it duuuuummmpppeed last night.
We flooded this morning, not pretty under our house at the moment, only seen it as bad in the 2007 storms.
Trails should be sweet though.
Anyone been up for a look?? I'm thinking i might take the lad for a walk through in the morning to throw some sticks and rocks in the bog holes to offer a little protection from the riders that will be up there tomorrow.
sometime this arvo-but it seems the sun is going behind those bloody clouds again!!
yeah. the sun is useless this time of year. We need heaps of wind. I think we can stave of some of the damage from this weekend if we can get some rovers in there to do some channel digging, and throw sticks etc onto the wet bits.
In california at the locals we used to get some bails of hay, pull em apart and drop loads of hay into the bogs after heavy rain.
The hay would get riden into the bog protecting the bog from getting bigger.
Shame we can't do this in a national park. it worked great. after 2 heavy rains followed by traffic, the bog ceased being a bog after rain.
