Red/Closed Thursday arvo ride ended up being fire trails, snakes and the odd track near gun club road as well as a grass fighting run round the quarry!
Majorly wet , still lots of deep puddles and mud, Might be orange by the weekend. Didn't ride Kenny's or shaft because they would be shite.
Do you have more information?
If you've ridden here lately please add a more recent report. This will be useful even if the condition is the same as updates expire after 30 days.

supposed to rain heavily tonight, will be a wet weekend.
Has anyone had a stroll through there? I saw a few cars there Sunday arv and with the Sun out on the Monday the trails would have copped a hiding.
It seems that it only takes a sniff of rain to close Glenrock.
How about we start to remake tracks that can handle rain, fill in the holes on kenny, a few grade reversals here and there, maybe some bridges/woodwork over the bad bits. .................. or make a new track or two that people can use on rainy days.
If we do nothing at all, people will still ride and make the existing tracks worse.
I went to the last trail care and want to do more. I want to make, fix and then ride trails not just type about it on the net. I want to get more involved but am unable to do so with nothing happening.
I know we are stuffed around by "the powers that be" so I understand why things seem to take forever. But I am getting sick of waiting.
We've had more than a sniff but yeah there are a lot of corners that pool up at the end.
It has been quiet of late on the trail works front of late. Not by design and I wouldn't completely lay the blame on the NPWS.
There are a couple of areas I am planning to get us in working on which I will post about shortly. Mainly on the start of Kenny's, Parts of Hang Ten and the bottom of Snakes. With a little work these will handle wet a lot better, but they won't be completely weather proof.
As for new trails to assist in the wet, the new amendment to the POM "should" address this with an option to avoid Kenny's. As it is, on all but the worst days you can ride trails like Snakes and Ladders, Double Barrel, Reload, etc. This new trail in the planning would link these up. Unfortunately new trail construction is limited to whats shown in the POM, so its not open slather.
Kenny's to make wet weather proof has a few big issues, particularly at the Bailey's end. Ironically, this could have been resolved when the original "fix" was done. The start of the trail has a few smaller fixes that need to be addressed.
I don't agree that a sniff of rain closes glenrock though, The Port to Port went through after 45mm of rain was recorded at the Shit Works. When I inspected the trails to make the call to run it, other than the Bailey's entrance and some management trail, it was pretty dry on the single trail. We just have a few sections of trail that need to be resolved for smaller rain events.
So "a sniff of rain" was stretching the truth a bit far, but lately every time I get to the GTA site I see the trail condition is red - perhaps not everyday, but a fair bit lately.
As you have said yourself Sammydog, not all trails are unrideable. Maybe a wet weather trail guide or suggested circuit needs to be put up at the main entrance to guide people away from the more affected tracks, but as there is no real alternative route to the north eastern side except for kennys it would be a rather small circuit.
I understand that we are confined to the POM.
Speaking of the Port to Port, Did the organisers of the event, who got $100 for every rider for the fourth lap, donate anything to the glenrock trails? or did they use a public space to make a profit for themselves?
Perhaps next year, when they seek permission from National parks, they can allocate some of their costs towards trail care, of "the famous Glenrock MTB Park, where they will be treated to the sensational single track before dropping out to a descent into Merewether Beach"
We are working on amended signage at the moment with the NPWS. The NPWS want to use the back of the main map structure to show a few suggested loops. One of this will be a suggested wet loop.
The amended POM should provide an alternate to Kenny's. A trail from the end of twisties that will run under the quarries and to the management trail at the bottom of the Baileys Paddock hill. From there you could climb back to High Roller skipping Kenny's. At the moment though the POM is going through the motions. It will also include bringing back parts of the South Side if it gets approved.
I haven't heard of any money being allocated back to the trails, thats not to say it didn't happen. The only money the NPWS can levy is the per rider fee that goes to the state coffers. Some promotors choose to go the feel good route and put money back to the trails, others don't. I'm not aware of which camp the Port to Port sits.
Thanks Sammydog, all sounds promising.
Can the general public check out the POM?
Do you have a link?
Should have looked first. I found it easy
Thats the current POM. Sometime in the next 6 months (I hope) the draft amendments will go on exhibition. That will have the changes I am talking about.
