Wildflower Garden update for 22 Nov
Area:
Wildflower Garden
Status:
Green/Open Wildflower Garden is in quite reasonable condition. Damp at the bottom of some gullies but otherwise good, and rideable. Light misty drizzle this morning held the sandy bits together well.
Do you have more information?
If you've ridden here lately please add a more recent report. This will be useful even if the condition is the same as updates expire after 30 days.

... today NPWS were holding some sort of forum right at the intersection of Muppets and Ryland. Easel, maps, flip charts, some obviously NPWS staffers, others more like vollies or NPA types. When I stopped to ask if it would be alright if I rode through the middle of them to get onto Muppets, one of the NPWS staffers said basically no, it was an "illegal" trail and that's what they were meeting about. I said there had never been any signs saying it was illegal or not to be ridden, she then said it was "illegally built". Not sure if there is a distinction there. Anyway, I suggested that they should focus on ways of making more tracks for user groups like mtb riders as there was obviously demand for it. She referred me to Serrata and Ghania (i.e. NPWS says "job done"). I said for me they were too difficult and too short and that NPWS should focus on making more tracks. Then left them to it. Maybe the recent "issues" at RNP are just the start of something?
Ah, far out..Here we go again.
They have no idea about the scale of demand. This is one of the most popular trails in Northern Sydney.
Nothing more needs to be said!
Apparently there is more to it than was said trailside, but exactly what we don't yet know.
The point was made that the lack of communication with stakeholder groups (us primarily), leading to first contact being at the trail does not build trust and cooperation, especially when there is an agreed protocol and strategy.
Will advise when we hear more.
... the full story in the fullness of time. Not sure it's going to stop too many people riding there in the meantime.
