Went here first time on Saturday. A local landowner has tried to close off access at the start of the track, and even felled some trees to block the track, but it is worth crossing over low to the river, (or over the second fence they put up bellow their original timber one) and you'll find the track again.
The track is brilliant, with little rest, narrow, technical, bridges, logs and shaded by forest. Locals have placed signs at key areas (thanks locals) created loop tracks so its not a single track anymore.
This is a beautiful ride, shh, don't tell too many as its better than Mt Annan and just down the road.

Do you have more information?

If you've ridden here lately please add a more recent report. This will be useful even if the condition is the same as updates expire after 30 days.

Don't forget the fact that it's LOAM!

... is he trying to stop trespassing on his property, or trying to block access to public/crown land?

None of the land is public or Crown land. This track should be removed from the database.

I don't understand, I saw lots of comments about liability and landowner risk. I suspect the landowner is watching these forums, but from my legal understanding anyone can access to the high water level of the river and the landowner has no liability whatsoever (not considered his land) Just as a canoe may pass down the river through a property, if they drown it is nothing to do with the landowner, it is not his property. I'm sure riders would even fence a section or whatever the owner wanted to pass from one side to the other of property.
This is just an unhappy owner. Passing via the river shore is risk free for the landowner. In fact, it looks like the owner has modified the river edge which would require approval.
Why not allow access? You would find cyclists are grateful for access and would respect any requirements the landowner wishes. They could been seen friends, supporting outdoor activities. Some people just don't get that if there is no harm done, why not look at the positives.
